... to Verona a change of trains and then on to Milano. Our taxi driver was a bit late because of traffic. He decided to take us down the Roman road to avoid the main roads. This was small and in Aus is it would be one lane/way only. Not here! He gave us a lovely history lesson on the way. Erected in the 13th century, it belonged to the Dukes of Austria, ...

Today was a pack up and quiet day. There was a monster thunder storm overnight and the rain was steady until mid-late morning. We decided to try and see what Raffa was like, it looked interesting from the road that we have frequently used on our way south around the lake. When we got there, we drove straight through, there was a lovely church but apart from that - nothing else....not even a gelataria!! So we headed to Salo instead and parked at ...

... was a house speciality and I think something that inspired many of the Campbell-Burns' risotto recipes since we had it all those years ago. Hamish ordered a tomato pasta and then preferred by duck parpadelle so we swapped. We had a second courses and soaked up the fantastic ambience of the restaurant but of course were too full for dessert. We headed up to the Arena to get our seats and stopped for gelati for the boys on the way, The Verona Arena ...
