... worse if it wasn’t for the leathers I was wearing.
Once we reached the spot where the GPS said the campground was supposed to be, we realized that it no longer existed. New homes had been built here recently. Given how late it was getting, and how worn out we were from the relentless heat, we decided to get a hotel room for the night. The town we were in was called Ubeda, and is known as a real tourist gem and was ...
... highest peak the most spectacular. Arriving in Jaen without a hostel reservation, the first place we tried to stay was full so we walked, luggage in tow to the next place, a Pension around the corner where Rafael and his family had a room available with three beds for us. This was by far a better experience than my first ransacking Pension with the girls in Cadiz a few years ago but they did have the same bath tub!!! The next day, Monday the 22nd of Sept, we got down to business. Woke ...
Jaen, Spain manningra... back down to Granada, spend one night in a Hostel, and then catch an overnight train to Barcelona, where we plan to spent a good bit of time. By the way... sorry about the lack of photos lately... we've still been taking quite a few pictures, the problem is that... well the problem is that I don't feel like going through the whole process of transfering them, picking out the good ones, re-sizing and then uploading them. Maybe tomorrow :-)
Ubeda, Spain fritzandjenny... shucks). We took a bus to Cazorla in the morning, then had to wait a long time for the mini bus that takes people out into the park itself. The mini bus dropped us off a couple kilometers from our campsite, so we hiked in and set up camp. We were a little bored, and things got a little silly. (Those are my knees. Really Really, just my knees). I think I ...
Cazorla, Spain fritzandjenny... to practice and we've even learned a couple of good idioms and a few dirty words, which is always handy. They manage to work a tiny lesson into almost every topic we discuss, without disrupting the flow of conversation. Since there is not a whole lot to "see and do" in Ubeda, we've also had some extra free time to lounge out on their gorgeous patio and improve our tans. We've also taken some day trips outside of Ubeda. More to come soon...
Ubeda, Spain fritzandjenny... a healthy three. He was very entertaining to watch. After walking for a while Moses and Ramon joined us for beers and tapas at an outdoor restaurant. We spent the rest of the evening there, sipping our beers and sampling all the different free tapas that came with each round of drinks. After four rounds we had sampled quite a bit, but Paco wanted us to try something called Morcilla. Neither he nor Mercedes could describe quite what it was, but ...
Ubeda, Spain fritzandjenny18 de octubre Believe it or not, the feria continues in Jaén. It actually ends this Sunday. It's pretty crazy. Since it was a holiday in Jaén and I didn't have work Amanda and I went to the feria again to have a look around during the daytime and also to catch some lunch because there were no grocery stores open due to the city holiday. Originally we wanted to see a concert in the center of the city, but we ended up talking to our ...

You couldn't take two steps without smelling baked potatoes stuffed with everything under the sun, or churros and chocolate, or kebabs. Since we didn't really know where the flamenco dancing was, we just decided to walk around and explore a little. We stopped at a café that served churros and chocolate ...
Jaen, Spain kwirky250... social studies and music as bilingual classes, so those teachers are working on learning English and also need help with activities and things to include in their class for next year. Our job is to plan activities to do in the English classes for this year, plan activities for next year's bilingual classes, and help the two teachers learning English with their skills. I can't stress enough how small ...
Jaen, Spain kwirky250... idea of which number his building was. Even though I was able to get within 20 feet of the building, I still didn't know which was his, so I turned to a pair of what turned out to be professors who were talking outside and they informed me that this was a very bad day to try to contact any administrative offices in the university. They had an inaugural celebration that morning so most of the offices, including the one ...
