... farmland nearby. We had a cookout on one along the river Lerma one day, and yesterday we climbed a plot on a hillside where we had a panoramic view of the town and surrounding countryside. There were more grasshoppers of many different sizes, shapes and colors than we had ever imagined, and we collected afew handfuls for Senora Lopez's birds and chickens. Greg and I then walked across town to the Museo de las Momias (Mummy Museum), a must visit spot we had been told by a handful friends. (It is the number one tourist attraction.) It was a hike up through suspicious shanty houses to get to this eerie museum. (There are few roads in this town and many houses are built up with just steps providing access to them.)
