From vines to hay and something about food

Today Daryl and I travelled from Najera to Santo Domingo, a distance of about 22kms. The most noticable thing about the walk was that the fields changed from grape vines as far as the eye could see to open paddocks where hay had been grown, cut and stored. The weather again was just perfect after a big storm during the night. We've just had another …

By 7 am I left the hostel, but as it was still dark, I had to sit in the coffee shop and drink cafe con leche and chat with other pilgrims till daylight.

Today's plan was to continue with the slower pace - walk 16 km to Azofra and then cab the next 16 km to Santo Domingo De Calzada. The towns along the path are not always well spaced for daily walking. The choice was 16 km or 27 km or 31 km.

The weather has been great for walking; cool and cloudy with the sun peeking out from time to ...

Another hot day in the forecast! Again the trail begins to climb as soon as we leave Logrono. We're thinking of stopping in Najera, 31 km away because of the heat. 3 consecutive days of riding in +30 C weather is taking its toll on all of us. The people we have met along the trail have all been very helpful. Today we have the good fortune to meet an Italian couple who are also cycling the Camino. We ask them how they know what roadways are ...

... the hard road surfaces despite the slip sliding around! I've pondered what would be the result if my body was able to employ a lawyer and have me up for abuse of my feet and making it tired and worn out. My defence would be it's fun! Despite some arguing from my body. It drizzled on and off throughout the day and it was cold, never above 11 degrees but great walking weather all the same. The sun shined for the last 3.5km to Ages and as we turned a ...
