... rest of the group that came out were back on the island... including Paul! I was having so much fun though and found even clearer water to snorkel in, but farther out. I took a few more pics and then swam in to the island where everyone had started eating lunch already... oops! A couple people snorkeling actually were able to see a shark... about 4 feet long... I missed it though.

For the rest of the time, we walked around the entire island ...
Taveuni Island, Fiji erinandpaul07We did our last two morning dives at Alberts Wall and Alberts Point in Rabi. Alberts Wall is a really nice wall dive with a spectacular drop and lots of soft coral. After the dives we kayaked along the beach of Alberts Bay. There we visited a village with 5 families that lives on this island. Walked around the village. Kayaked along the beach and eventually sailed back to Natewa Bay on Vanua Levu.
Rabi, Northern, Fiji andreasjahnWe did our first dive at 7am at Three Sisters (Matei-Taveuni). My treasure hunting was successful today as I found a functioning dive computer on the seafloor. We did a nice dive through a maybe 8m tunnel. Second dive at 9:30am (The Big Blue). Here we had nice drift dive, but there was not really that much to see. The visibility was hampered due to strong currents. Additionally, the weather was rather ******. It was raining the entire day and ...
Taveuni Island, Fiji andreasjahn... In the evening we took a bus to Wiwi Village for a Kava ceremony which included warrior dances, other dances, singing, kava drinking, and dancing.
We finished the day with a night dive (Dodos Reef) were we saw a really colorful cool looking flat worm, sleeping fish, a large Parrotfish, and a large lobster.
Qamea Island, Fiji andreasjahnIt was nice and sunny this day. I need to stress that point as it was mostly raining throughout our trip on Fiji. We did two morning dives at the Ringgold Atoll (Kokoda Point, Wall Street). Kokoda Point is a wall dive. The wall drops quite spectacularly into the abyss. However, we did not see any large marine animals. While the wall the wall is quite nice and the visibility is >30m there was not that much to see. The second dive at Wall Street was more interesting as ...
Cobia, Northern, Fiji andreasjahn... our own charter. This meant less waiting and a more relaxed schedule. Back at the boat we did our first dive at Rainbow Reef (Sams Point). The visibility was exceptional with about 30m. Almost as good as in the Grand Cayman which so far still remains undefeated. The coral was quite colorful with yellow, purple, blue, orange soft coral fans. Otherwise, we saw lots of small fish, a big turtle, but no larger pelagics. The currents ...
Taveuni Island, Fiji andreasjahn... or india on the second drago trip. the flipside of it being day 300 means that in no time at all im going to be coming home (roughly a months time if you can believe it - which is sooner than id hoped but a cruel necessity oweing to my ex-tenants decision to bail early on their year-long lease agreement)... so i hope everyones in a meeting up and belated-birthday celebrations frame of mind. its funny cos whilst ive had the most incredible intrepid ...
Taveuni Island, Fiji nikkiviper... The water slide is just that, a waterfall that the locals slide down as with the rocks etc it makes a ride similar to what you find at Canada's Wonderland etc. It is beautiful! The walk up there is a bit of a hike and luckily I met up with a group of people who were going up there with a local guide. The let me tag along - and this ended up being a godsend. You climb up the rocks to the side and then creep down a big rock into a pool to start off the slide. I went ...
Taveuni, Fiji bajean... the world on the 180th meridian. After about ten minutes it became clear that the rain was not about to ease, so we decided to just get wet and headed back toward the campsite. We made it as far as the drive of the dive shop when the torrent of falling water became gigantic. We, or rather I, took shelter... Sacha went for a swim in the ocean, and declared it refreshing when he came back. It was at this point that I realised that I had, of course, left my towel out on ...
Waiyevo, Fiji sahs... to book my dive trip, and I got a $20 dollar discount along with free equipment hire, which in all saved me about $50FJ. I asked about the Great White Wall, which is supposed to be one of the best reef dives in the world, and the guides said that it would not be a problem to dive it, even though I have not gone so deep before. The only drawback is that to get the most from the dive it needs be done at a particular time during the current. If the water moves too ...
