British Virgin Islands Sushi

It's quite difficult to find good sushi in the BVI. The BVI Yacht Club has a Sushi Night each Thursday and the sushi is okay. The Dove Restaurant in Road Town has a small sampler selection which is better. So, when reports reached me that Sky Restaurant had employed a Japanese Teppan Yaki and Sushi chef and was producing excellent quality sushi 6 nights a week some friends and I decided to pay a visit to celebrate a birthday ...

St. Thomas: Scenic drive

... ship's doctor stationed on the 4th deck. After a quick check up of blood pressure, etc.... I was given an needle of something plus sea sickness pills. :( Happy to report that after two hours, I felt better, not 100% myself but better.

Therefore, today, I stayed on board instead of visiting St. Thomas island. Since we were doing two cruises with Caribbean Princess - Southern & Western being back to back, last week, we had the luxury of ...

Tortola - The "Baths" Virgin Gorda

... jumping all around the place, snapping pictures here and there of these natural wonders. Of all of the BVI's, these big huge boulders can only be found here, on the Virgin Gorda island. Nobody can explain why.

After Mi had enough of swimming, we explored the secluded natural passages of the boulders. It was fantastic. Water rising in between the boulders, the bright sunny sun smiling at us, the beautiful blue sky with cottony white ...

Views of St. Thomas

... of our eyes. Wow! In the distance, Magens Bay, which is rated by the National Geographic Society as being one of the top 10 beaches in the world could be seen. It was paradise! Deep blue Sapphire water, white sandy beaches, you name it...it was a beautiful site. On our way back to the safari bus, we took the time to browse through the shops and souvenirs were purchased.

As we made our ...

Carribean Secrets: British Virgin Islands

... tropical food and cocktails. We spent one free day enjoying the delicacies, beach and boats before our exodus to an even more secret location where our shows happened. The entire island had been booked for the event in advance. The event itself was relaxed and informal but attended by celebrities, super-stars and billionare magnates whom I saw but cannot name, and they all had a great time. I'd love to mention the world famous live band that played there. Together we all ...

... people to the departure lounge, we bought a couple of sandwiches to go, then went through security. Ate in the departure lounge, with plenty of time before we were led out to the plane. Fun, on the flight to San Juan, to look down at the islands where we had sailed. The water seemed very tourquoise from the air. Upon arriving San Juan, we had a long walk to Immigration, but we were second in "line". So no wait at all ...

A week sailing in BVI

... the Baths. We had some rain and squalls but the weather soon cleared; we had a lovely couple of hours sailing.

Upon reaching the Baths, we discovered that every mooring ball was taken. Since we needed to leave someone on board anyway, we decided that M&P would remain behind, circling, while the rest of us went to shore in the dinghy.

In the main cove of the Baths, dinghies can be tied up on a line between two floats. We had to push a couple of dinghies aside ...

In the US Virgin Islands

... It was a windy day today and so the batteries are getting charged up with the wind generator, which means that we don't have to listen to the engine running. We have had mostly breezy days so far and have only had to charge one day with the engine. There have been lots of thundershowers to go along with the wind. A tropical wave is suppose to pass over us on the weekend and so that will mean stronger wind and even more rain. We are thinking of heading over to ...

... for the raw water cooling the the handle and pin broke off in the closed position. (this was the sea cock that when we arrived would not move). tomorrow we have a diver and a marine engineer come to fix the skin fitting. Because of the frustration the UKSA are paying for us to go on a dive trip tomorrow. Hopefully the boat will be sea worthy and able to leave Friday for a couple of day cruising around the BVI's before making the trip to Trinidad. Yesterday was ...
