Spring has sprung...

... thing didn't really matter though because as soon as we got to the racecourse we all took our shoes off and spent the rest of the day kicking about the grass in our barefeet.
We had hired a marquee so that we would have our own private area, with a table and chairs for us - it was really good and close to the finishing line - and the bar - and it also gave us a place to store our bags and shoes without running the risk of them getting robbed. We made it our mission ...

... for me! I had fun wondering the quaint shops around town for a while. Ended up going to 3 playgrounds today which the kids had fun playing with the other kids there. It's sad how much of our trip we look and assess the suitability of playgrounds... guess we've become a bit of an expert on the subject. Don't think many have come anywhere near the likes of the one near home at Donnybrook.
Don't want to say goodbye

... so after setting up we headed into Echuca (we are staying about 5km out of town to save some bucks) to do some sightseeing. Started at the National Holden Museum as part of a packaged deal. The whole time there we both thought of a friend, Dion, especially when the Monaro's were around. Jeremy saw a few of his dream cars and the boys learnt a little important history.
Yummy Mushrooms at Oscars

... right on the edge of the Murray river. We were in a one bedroom, spacious apartment, with breaky provisions provided.

Friday dawned unfortunately raining. Undeterred we ventured into the Port of Echuca where we found a fabulous belgium chocolate factory, good coffee at the Black Pudding Deli, and even better red wine tasting at St Annes Vineyards. We noticed Oscar W's wharfside redgum ...

Victoria update

... We also had cockatoos at our door and saw a laughing kookaburra snatch a sandwich right out of someone's hand! The wildlife was really great as was the scenery. We walked to view Mackenzie Falls from the top of the mountains which was beautiful. Well, hope you have enjoyed reading about our experiences down under. It will certainly be a nice record of the trip for us. Thanks for all your messages, and we'll look forward to seeing you all soon. With love R&J xxx

Off to the Great Ocean Road

... the first cool animals I have seen in the wild in Australia. It was pretty cool- they were just chilling out, eating some eucalyptus. From there on, we would frequently see koalas in the trees, once you konw what to look for. Additonally, just a little further up the road, we saw a huge open field full of about 40 kangaroos in the wild, which were the first kangaroos I've seen on this trip. This was very cool, although I didn't get to see them up close ...

Great Ocean Road Drive

... our tedious drive was interspersed with the most breath-taking rainbows ever, some of them double rainbows, which you just had to pull over and photograph. Exquisite. I, of course, could not help annoying David incessantly by loudly singing the Rainbow theme tune that I adored as a child (and still secretly do..especially when Zippy starts plucking his twanger). When you do eventually reach the G.O.R. it's an endlessly long road that snakes around the cliffs with hairpin corners ...

Frankston, Sorrento, Bell's Beach and Apollo Bay

... Sorrento to Queenscliff which gives me a good view of the Melbourne bay and is a good way for us to kick off our road trip. We get the chance to stop in at Bell's Beach, where Point Break was filmed and home to every major surf company. The night's stop is in Apollo Bay at a B&B called The Dolphin which is an amazing place with a view that ...

The Fusion Project Goes Global

... letters from on the screen, the tiles outside, grass, carpet. posters on wall etc....all without moving the eyes. We'll explore the usefulness of that for being aware of others around us. A useful tool when there are a lot of people moving about. Sounds a bit technical. Lol each time I run it just pops up in front of me. Luckily I said technique is a wonderful thing a truly wonderful thing. I guess it comes down to how we employ it with what spirit we engage with it. It will be a six ...

Berrigan Racing

... did giggle like a kid at some points, especially when we got stuck behind 3 cars that weren't overtaking each other, I waited a while but then when the moment was right I cruised passed 3 cars like they weren't there. I had a great time, that was until Ben prised my fingers off the steering wheel and pushed me out the door. It was his turn again. As for the peppermint rocket question, yes, I'll begrugingly say that the chrysler's a better car, but I miss my rocket, I ...
