... Bangkok is HUGE. It's just a mind bogglingly big city. We had no idea where we should even stay seeing as there's just no real centre, so we'd settled on the Khao San Road, where everyone said we would have a good time. In our very nice hotel we met up with my friend Sophie and her friend Lorna. We immediately headed out to the Khao San Road to do the Western tourist thing and drink buckets full of Thai whiskey and coke and try to avoid the people selling ...

... and we left again for the train station. Whilst waiting for the train at 6pm everyone in the station stood up and music came on and they all sung the national anthem. Apparently that's what happens everyday at 6. The train is taking us to Surat Thani and we are supposed to arrive at 6am then have some breakfast and get some transport for a couple more hours to khao sok national park which is apparently ...

... for Chiang Mai, the flower festival. Helen decided to see if she can get us better accommodations, though Tom and I are not complaining. Helen wants to stay at the best hotel that is directly adjacent to the Nite Market. She seems to have played a trump card of being a regular customer for 18 years and handed out a generous tip and we may move the the Presidential Suite on the 20th floor tomorrow. We will know tomorrow. We met ...
