Wow, who knew islands in Greece could keep getting better and better?

We wrapped up in Santorini on 30 June, and headed off to Crete by ferry in the late afternoon. We were met at the port by a lovely lady from Tempo Holidays and two taxis (that drove us the 3 minutes to the hotel). We are staying at the Lato Hotel for our three day stay in Crete. And what a fabulous place this is, central location, close to harbour, port, central shopping ...

Flew to Crete (Heraklion) as there were no ferries between Cyprus and Crete. Strange but true. Bought a "cheap" ticket. Then found when I got to the airport I would need to pay 35 Euro for my bag; almost as much as I paid for the ticket. However, A quick reshuffle of my stuff and all was well. Except me that is. To get my size and weight down so I only had hand luggage I put my boots on (rather than sandles), put my trousers on over my shorts, my shirt ...

    Knossos

Today we had a two hour drive along the highway to Knossos, an archeological site from the Minoan age. It was a Minoan palace that was nearly 4000 years old. It was home to a king who asked Apollo for a bull to sacrifice to honour Apollo. The bull was so beautiful though that the king sacrificed another one, which made Apollo angry. He then made the queen fall in love with the bull, which produced the Minotaur, a half human, half bull, which lived on human blood. ...
