... driver an hour to find our villa because he only spoke French. Luckily,
one of my friends spoke minimal French, but enough to get him close to our
villa. It was worth the wait.
On the last day we woke up at 7AM (that was a rough one) to take a speedboat
to a private island. On the island we went snorkeling, played with our frisbee,
and once again….loved life. Before we got on the ship we all stopped at the McDonalds and enjoyed McFlurrys and ...

Mauritius, Mauritius panacheholiday... for healing and under what conditions, what was the process of preparing for baptism?, why did/do some believe that a German would be at the head of the final permutation of the Holy Roman Empire? Was Nimrod black? Was there any prophetic significance to an African-American occupying the US presidency? It was quite a wide-ranging discussion. Two people asked to be anointed, and two others asked to begin counseling toward baptism. If all goes as ...
Riviere des Anguilles, Mauritius joelmeeker... the hilarity of swimming under the boat to wave to people looking down through the glass! Then we swam out to check out the coral which looked even more amzing up close. There wasn't as much fish life as i thought there would be around the coral but there was still lots to see. There was a school of tiger fish intermingled with a few trumpet fish going on a bit of a feeding frenzy which was cool, especially when you swim inbetween them! There were also some ...
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... all of the coral etc to get us over to the island but only took 10 mins at the most. When we arrived we were taken straight up to the museum where our guide started the tour. He spoke really good english which was a bonus so we understood everything! He told us all about the extinct species that were originally on the island like the red rail, dodo, blue pigeon, Mauritian parrot (1m tall!) and some reptiles like the giant ...
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... a very attractive place...except for the roads...and the drivers. We rented a car at the airport, which is inconveniently located on the opposite side of the island from where our first hotel was. Keep in mind that we're now driving on the left with Hindus and other crazies whizzing around us. Our first three days were spent on the northwest corner of this island/country. Lots of big luxury resorts and all the ...
Port Louis, Mauritius marjorieandpaul... escape. We reserved a junior suite at a hotel a little distance away (5 star and recommended by Rach's friend at C&W) and had our hotel cab us to the new destination, at no extra cost (again a loing story and a few tears later). The new hotel is nice enough and has a range of complimentary water sports but also importanly has restaurants where you are served from a menu by waiters, not the scramble for curry we experienced at Les Pavillions. Anyway it was nice to be out ...
Le Morne, Mauritius chperryToday was my last full day on Mauritius. Most of the morning was spent with a visit and counseling. I did some more office work and festival planning, and then had dinner with the Marvin and Gloria Curry, an American couple on an extended stay in Mauritius for a business project. Among other things we talked about the education and the challenges of international travel, of which they too have done quite a bit ...
Around Mauritius, Mauritius joelmeeker... I had written down the name of the place that we were going so I got out my piece of paper and paid a guy a dollar to show us to the correct bus. He didn't speak any English as far as I could tell, but he seemed to know exactly where we were headed. We checked with the bus driver before we left to make sure we were on the right bus, just to make sure this guy wasn't throwing us for a loop. The bus was packed-at least three people per seat and people standing in the aisle ...
Port Louis, Mauritius wishyouwerehereSunday morning we arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius. I wasn't quite sure what to expect because I had never heard of the country before I found out that we were going there. Mauritius is a tiny island country off of the coast of Madagascar. Politically and geographically it is part of Africa. However, ethnically and culturally it is much more Indian and Chinese than African. Indians and Chinese make up a majority of the population followed by ...
