Today after a quick cup of coffee, Marina and I headed out to do a bunch of errands for the boat, and ourselves as well. There is a great little very touristy, shopping street, open only to foot traffic, which everyone likes to use, and I am no exception. This street is only about 4 blocks long -- but seems to have everything a visitor would like to see or buy. We headed up this tiny, narrow, over-crowded street, peering in windows, and ...

... was ideal - close to the train station, and just a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Also super close: the beach! :) The shopping in Nice is excellent and very compact, which is always great when you are travelling and on foot. You will find a Monoprix, a mall, a high end department store, luxury boutiques, international chains and funky local shops all within 10-15 minutes by foot. Aside from the beaches, the Old Quarter is another ...

... Guelle in Barcelona...at least this is what I noticed. Her colorful female sculptures in which the woman is sculpted largely, very largely that is, are quite well known and I am certain I have seen them before. Alexandra said many of her sculptures are in Germany and I thought maybe this is where I saw them....but I don't know. Sadly Niki died from respiratory problems as working with the acrylics was bad for her health. Since much of her work is ...

    Nice to Venice

    ... like!

We walked back across the promenade and through the market. We saw candies shaped like fruits, candied fruits, and fruity candies. We also saw loads of fresh veggies, dried tomatoes, and bunches of beautiful tropical flowers! I bought a little sachet of Provence lavender finally, and we wandered into a few souvenir shops before stopping for lunch. By now, we were discovering, and reading, that Italian food is really better than the French food in Nice! So ...
