    ... hotel. It was a lovely hotel, almost brand new. Sadly, this seems to be the only way that China does nice hotels (ie. if they're new!). The town of Muyi was very smart and very new itself. In the evening we went for a walk by the river and in the town and it was lovely. Because people mainly live in apartments without outside space it 'forces' them out onto the street in the evening. The town square had a huge exercise class going on, there was a children's outdoor play area ...

    ... a taxi there and fill out the forms etc however as I have a couple of days left I would rather use them than lose them, and the officer agrees I can come back and apply the day before my visa expires to apply which was great.

    I have a couple of days of just chilling out, pottering around sightseeing, catching up with washing, drying out tent, re-packing, giving bike the once over and enjoying the nice ...

    I mentioned above that the road network and quality of road building in this part of China, well since Lanzhou, has been excellent. It is obvious where the money is being spent, as the roads in the western provinces of China were awful ...

    We had an 8 hr bus ride from Lijiang to Panzhihua, random fact - it is apparently the youngest city in china, it was a interesting ride, lots of really nice views for the most part and then through a real industrial area where we shared the road with hundreds of trucks filled with coal, and along the road side everything was covered with black dust (people included). It was also on this journey that we had our most horrible toilet experience ...
