I ended up spending 8 days in Pai and could have stayed longer. After 4 nights at common grounds I moved to SpicyPai backpackers for two nights which was further out of town surrounded by green rice paddies and with a beautiful view of the mountains. My room here was slightly more basic, a big open hut with I think around 28 beds or more, no ac, open windows and a mosquito net. It was worth having a basic room for a few days to soak in the views. ... day, with most people being out on boats diving. The beaches also have lots of friendly stray dogs, one, who we nicknamed Sandy, would come swimming in the sea with us and try and catch fish.

On my last night I saw a cabaret show and could not believe now beautiful the lady boys were. It was very hard to tell that at some point they had been men!

We sped through the skills, but even being in a swimming pool in a wet suit eventually becomes cold.
