The place was excellent on all counts

This place is close to Lumpini Underground and many local restaurants and shops. The rooms are huge, the views from the balcony to die for, the breakfasts very diverse and plentiful, the price very reasonable (we paid $US50) and the staff go that extra mile.
If I had to make a criticism, it would be that it probably needs a coat of paint here and there.

      Saturday Morning Bangkok

Good morning, it's good to alive after finally arriving back in Bangkok. Boy, are we looking forward to our breakfast this morning. We now know where we involuntarily caught the bus back to Bangkok, a place called Kanchanaburi. Thinking back, for a 130 baht (about $A5) it was luxury for what was a 3 hour journey. The luxury stopped though once …

What a wonderful trip so full of discoveries with new and old friends. We had to fly back to Bangkok so we could leave early Tuesday morning for our first leg back to the States. But first, we needed to venture out one more time – the Warorot Market to buy some spices. While Ole went off to copy his drawing journal, we wandered through one …

We knew the time would come when a chunk of our group would head back to the States while nine of us journeyed on. We flew back to Bangkok, staying at the Pantip Suite Hotel again and enjoyed our bittersweet Farewell Dinner.

Our day was spent traveling to Ayuthaya, capital of Thailand for 550 years and home to 33 Kings. Along the way, Ole educated us on the various kings and their influence. Of note, Rami V was the featured king in the musical "The King and I" with Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr. The movie is still banned in Thailand because it is considered irreverent …

The US government had issued travel alerts for Thailand due to political unrest but that didn't dissuade us. Common sense would prevail - stay away from demonstration areas.

The current Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, was elected in 2011. Since then she has reshuffled her cabinet a few times and in December 2013, Yingluck dissolved …
