... not like the London Eye but rather a bar with a view outside. It was pretty and the local rose liqueur was also nice too but quite strong! Last stop of the night was a local Croatian resturant where jet lag struck Joe and he fell asleep on the dinner table. I had to explain to the waiter, my friend is tired can we get this food to go! ... 269;ić was a 19th century Governor who extended citizen's rights and united Croats within the Hapsburg empire. In 1848 during the Hungarian uprising he sided with the Hapsburgs and helped them fight the Hungarians. The statue, erected in 1866, was removed in 1947 by the Communists fearing it could rouse nationalistic spirit. When it was returned in 1990, the statue, instead of facing north to Hungary, now faces south to Serbia.

So our next stop was Plitvice National Park but after about an hour we stopped at a really nice roadside restaurant for lunch. Lettuce, Tomatoes and Senf

... fellow which toppings we wanted but he didn't seem to know the word 'mustard'. We now know that mustard in Croatian is 'senf'. I'm not sure how useful this word will be going forward.

The apartment is nice and the owner is very friendly. The light switches are large and square. We have to go down a long staircase to reach the city center.
