... of the three hospitals in the town. Each soldier was buried in accordance with their religion and each grave tended to by the women of the town. The wooden crosses, all slightly different give the graveyard an air of a fairy tale. We then headed down hill in to the town for a wander around. We visited the Speck (cured ham) Museum – a couple of rooms in the vaulted basement of the Speck shop. The smell of ham hanging from the ceiling being cured was oppressive.
Last day of this week long stay in such a pretty little town and with super food and ambience. We have a dining room to ourselves which is just as well, as we tend to be a noisy lot.
