... each step as the height started to bother me, and the view from the top wasn't particularly different from the view at the bottom. Plus I didn't see any wildlife. I very slowly descended the ladder, and we carried on. Over the hill was a field with yellow flowers springing up everywhere, ala The Sound of Music. I took the opportunity to spin in a circle while Jess took photos. It was a close call, but I think Julie Andrews might have done it just a little ...

... crossed a bridge to return to town using the longer path. Unlike the path up, which was all nicely staired with barriers, the path we took down was just exposed rock cut through the forest. We didn't see any wildlife, except for a tiny spider I saw on a tree, but it was good to be away from the rest of the tourists. In fact we didn't see another person until we got right to the bottom. The most beautiful bells chimed out in unison all around us on Sunday morning at our hotel - perfect. We had lunch in a gorgeous little village called Heiligenblut, that overlooked a beautiful valley.
We will have very special memories of this area forever ...

... of the Isel River, past Islitzer Alm (1,513m) to Pebell Alm (1,520m) where we stopped for morning tea before heading up what they call Naturkraftweg or Nature Energy Walk up beside the Umbalfalle or Umbal Falls. These waterfalls are quite spectacular at this time of year and are very high. It is amazing to think that it starts here, flows into the stream, the Isel River, then in to the Danube, finally ending up in Baltic Sea. ...
