What a long, long day! We got picked up from our hotel in Istanbul at 8am, travelled courtesy of Turkish Airlines ( good food) and arrived in Rome about 1.30. It's only a 2 hour flight. From there we navigated our way into Roma Termini via the Leonardo train. We had to hang around there for a few hours and then got the high speed train to Venice (clocked About 247 kms an hour at its fastest). Well today is the last day of the tour, a bit sad really. We left Ankara bright and early at 7.30am for a clean run through to Istanbul. The distance is about 700kms but it is all highway and big highway at that - 4 lanes on each side. I have waited nine and a half months to write this joke. It's one of my favourites.
Istanbul has lots of kittens roaming around the city. They are pretty cute, they get fed by the people and even provided with fresh water. There are also a few street dogs. They all seem very healthy, friendly and well behaved.
So when I left off I was on Santorini, but this blog kicks off with me travelling from Santorini to Rhodes, another Greek island, and this time a very large one. Now being that it's winter and the majority of the tourists are gone getting there required flying back through Athens which was a bit lame, but what are you gonna do?
