The fast train from Eskisehir to Istanbul was full of people coughing and spluttering! A two and a half hour trip through very wintery and wet countryside.

Since last night we have caught an overnight sleeper train, a fast train, two mini buses between the stations that aren't connected yet, two metro trains and a tram. We are getting pretty good at finding our way ...

      Istanbul to Venice

A travel blog entry by chrismoselen on Dec 03, 2014

What a long, long day! We got picked up from our hotel in Istanbul at 8am, travelled courtesy of Turkish Airlines ( good food) and arrived in Rome about 1.30. It's only a 2 hour flight. From there we navigated our way into Roma Termini via the Leonardo train. We had to hang around there for a few hours and then got the high speed train to Venice (clocked About 247 kms an hour at its fastest). The train was about 20 minutes late which meant it was after 9pm when we arrived - ...

The distance is about 700kms but it is all highway and big highway at that - 4 lanes on each side. We stopped on Mt Bolu to get photos but the countryside below was swathed in fog which was with us all the way to Istanbul. The tour company brought us right back to ...

I have waited nine and a half months to write this joke. It's one of my favourites.

Istanbul has lots of kittens roaming around the city. They are pretty cute, they get fed by the people and even provided with fresh water. There are also a few street dogs. They all seem very healthy, friendly and well behaved.

So when I left off I was on Santorini, but this blog kicks off with me travelling from Santorini to Rhodes, another Greek island, and this time a very large one. Now being that it's winter and the majority of the tourists are gone getting there required flying back through Athens which was a bit lame, but what are you gonna do? Now Rhodes apart from being very large is also so close to Turkey you can literally see it. The proximity of Turkey (and in ancient times ...
