In the early morning we left Siófok ( the place were staying) and headed for Budapest airport were we court a plane to Turkey. Budapest airport was not a big airport. When we arrived at Turkey we took a taxi to the apartment. Turkey was different,it was not like the other European countries, it had different architecture and there was a lot more cars on the road. The apartment that we were staying in was small. We had an interesting dinner and went to ...

There's a flea market and fruit market near the hostel today and that's where I'm going. It's not a slum but it is a ghetto. The hostel woman explained. That's a relief then. From Goreme to Istanbul in one 'hop'! Quite a distance - probably about 800Km but very do-able because the roads are very good. We had highway most of the way. Roadside stops were reasonably clean too.

Our packing has improved and we are more organised. Regular adjustments need to be made as cable ties snap sometimes. We realised we are travelling light compared to the migrants workers.

Days 38, 39, 40, 41 Back in Istanbul to spend some time catching up with sights missed on our first visit, a bit of shopping and some resting before the 19 hours of flying back home. The Topkapi Palace A magnificent example of the splendour and extravagance of the Ottoman era. The Harem was breathtaking and one can only imagine the life of the Sultans, concubines, and eunuchs that once lived here Prince's Island A ferry trip out to this group of islands in the Marmara sea that ...

Today is officially the last day of our Intrepid trip. There are no activities planned except getting us back to Istanbul. Our journey started at 8.30am and I am writing this final entry on the bus as we travel through the Turkish countryside. The bus is serviced and we get snacks and drinks from time to ...
