December 1275: This is it. Constantinople marks the end of my silk road journey and it ironically was the beginning of Marco Polo’s journey several years ago. This capital is an entirely different animal than what me and Yin have experienced before. In terms of size, population, noise, architecture, everything felt a little more grandeur. We rode in on our camels, narrowly avoiding children and hard-surfaced objects like big rocks. Mosques and ...

This country is the closest thing to a 'second world' country with quite literally one foot in Europe and one in Asia. This was our strategic 'bridge' country to help ease the kids into Africa and Asia. Within 24 hours of being in Turkey Quinn turned to me and asked earnestly "If we didn't have all those shots, would we all be dead by now?" We explored the various mosques ...

First things first...'Our meals do not contain pork products' That bit of information came on little piece of paper tagged to every meal. We took Turkish Airlines over to Istanbul, and assuming most people are Muslim they felt an obligation to put a blurb about pork. I just found it amusing. The flight took about 11 hours to arrive to a smoke filled airport. Ataturk was pretty small in comparison to American ...
