We headed off this morning to a tiny village called Priorat to taste wine from a small winery called Scala Dei (ladder to heaven), we also got to tour the facility and see how they go through the process of wine making, including going into the barrel room. The Scala Dei winery reinvented itself in the 70's and changed the way they made wine - they started leaving the stems in when crushing the grapes which gave them a superior product. ... meets and fruit and cake for dessert - this lovely meal was accompanied by a fabulous Torres red. After lunch we went on a small tour of the bodega - got some information about the grape varieties, the history of the Torres family and the wines. We then climbed the Bodega's tower and finished off the afternoon with a wine tasting of four Torres wines. I think the combination of the warm weather, a big lunch and drinking a lot of wine made me feel a little unwell ...
