... and busted out of in one of his movies... Tomorrow Never Dies I believe.

We stayed in a "hotel" that also had a hostel in it. There was some mysterious marks on the wall behind my bed, but Maggie and I just tried to ignore that. Other than that our room was pretty nice and was accompanied by two bottles of soap (1 in the shower and 1 by the sink) labeled "Tricky Ricky." WHAT? Maggie and I were going to take a ...

Back on the train

Once I was back at the station and on my way back to Munich I was much more at ease. I also meet a few other San Diegans on the train. They are a couple of students from USD who are studding in Copenhagen and are taking a break for a week to travel. They are pretty cool and we chatted a bit but at last I sat down for the 5 hour ride to Hamburg and watched a movie. I also must mention that the scenery was really nice. It was similar to Germany, green ...

Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg

... never been so hard for me to go up stairs in my life. I took the elevator down haha! We actually had good weather for most of the day. We then had about an hour to ourselves so we walked down to the harbor and ate lunch at a cute café, I had a decent curry wurst. Then we had a 90 minute boat tour of the harbor. Hamburg is the 2nd largest harbor in Europe which I did not know before today! Lots of cargo ships and ...

Hamburg from the Sky and Ground!

... place went nuts. They sure do love there soccer. Just as the game was finishing I was able to get on my train for Rostock and the ferry to Finland. Also it was on the train that I realized I am really starting to smell after the last 2 days. I mean I rode bikes in Luxembourg, train rides, walking Bremen, walking Hamburg and more train rides between them. I really would like a shower but that will have to wait for the boat.

Farvel Kobenhavn... Guten Tag Hamburg

... it is where they have their government...

Stopped at wurst vendor called Mo Griller that seemed really popular, so much so that they had 2 stalls, one on each side of Monckebergstr directly opposite each other and both had constant streams of people buying sausages from them and standing out the front eating them at the little stainless steel pedestals they had set up for that purpose.
Got a Geflugelwurst which tasted really good. So good that on my way ...

Arrival into Hamburg

... is a big deal. The guidebooks say that Hamburg really isn't a festival city (unlike the rest of the cities and towns in Germany!) except for the Harbor celebration every May. And sure enough, there are virtually no cheap rooms left in the city, so it's a good thing I have a friend to stay with. Anyway, I was a little peeved that they boarded the plane, only to sit there for another hour. That just sounds like something United would do, and ...

... when we noticed the proprietor standing in the doorway watching a flock of passing cyclists with his thumb up his nose to the knuckle. we settled for noodles. I had been combatting my headcold with a rememdy of my own devising (the Dutch beer and hot chips diet), and after a relaxing time in Leiden, we were ready to push on to Amsterdam. The train travelled north on the regular lines, which still allowed us to sometimes reach speeds up to 160-180km/h until Fulda, where we joined up with older German high-speed line. We travelled on the high speed line up to its end near Hannover. This line only has a top speed of 250km/h, though I believe it is the line that the ...
