... when the next train might be. It’s a good 2 hours from now. Oh well, what’s our choice at this point. As it’s a bit chilly, we stand in the sun and get ready to hunker down to wait for the train when the ladies took us under their wings and made us honorary members of their group for the duration of the trip. They had one Polish speaker in their group. She went off to find ...
Szczecin, Baltic Coast, Poland carpefeline... idea of how well traveled we would sound if we could say we had driven to Russia. The north borders a small part of Russia left over from the communist block, they probably use it as a military area to keep a watch on Europe, well thats what we think as we found out first hand the Polish army are keeping a close eye on the border. I'm not sure what we were expecting, maybe snow and border men marching in big fury hats! A few hundred meters from the end of the road we were stopped by ...
Szczecin, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland piholland... with Boyan as our guide (he lives with Alonzo and was going to Chicago for a conference and needed to catch a train to Hamburg at the Haupbahnhauf like us). We got to the bus station on campus and paid our 2.10 Euro fee and were on our way. We each had a backpack of clothing items and that was about it, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We were actually quite lucky that Boyan was with us because he helped us figure out the train ticket information ...

We spent several days in Rostock... We went to the sea, walking, cycling, and everything would be good, but I fell and injured knee the day before departure... I am a failure)))
... Poland it felt like you were driving over craters left over from WWII. Heh, that's what the communism collapse and years of corruption will do to a country. Szczecin was once a bustling port city during Poland's communism days, and raked in a lot of money by allowing the USSR and a lot of other Eastern Bloc countries to use their facilities. However, with the collapse of communism across Europe in the early 90s and the mismanagement of ...
Szczecin, Baltic Coast, Poland durnadupaDay 3 Saturday morning, I just wanted to sleep longer to recover from the long trip from Sao Paulo but I had to wake up early to take the train to Sczecin, Poland to visit my cousin Igor who is living there at the moment. No problems getting to Gesundbrunnen train station in Berlin and no problems getting to Sczecin either. Travel east now is a piece of cake after the EU enlargement in 2004. Once in Sczecin I didn't have any kind of hassle as they were already waiting for me ...
Szczecin, Poland gbasilio... prachtig.
Szczecin, Poland thorgal67... Kinga's book, so if somebody needs one : for only 15 euro it can be yours. After that we left in the direction of Szczecin through one of the slowest roads I have ever seen (ok, we are exaggerating, the road from Mexico City to Tenochtitlan is even worse). But it was not our lucky day : road works, detours, road blocks, .... 300 km took us more that 6 hours effective road time, not really very fast. But the ...
