This is a resort town on the coast. Just 15 minutes away are the ruins of Ephesus, an ancient city. Two giant theaters, one held 25,000 people. There was a library, marketplace, brothel. For an additional fee you could tour the Terrace Houses. One of them was 10,000 sq.ft. They had hot and cold running water and central heating in times before Christ! Wild cats are everywhere. ...

Our cabin is so quiet, hardly hear any noise or hardly any movement. Very comfy. This is a tender port. We have to be shuttled to shore on a tender because there is no big dock. We don't have a tour here, so another relaxing day just exploring. Lesbos produces half of the worlds ouzo. Also lots of olive oil. I'll write more ...

This was once all about the Temple of Athena from the 6th century BCE, but all is now in ruins. Aristotle opened an important school here too, and this became an important city.

... then walked into town for lunch - looking for calamari and baby octopus. On a mission to get a Greek seafood lunch. Amazingly we could not find any - and we were on a Greek island!!! As it turned out, we had the worst lunch so far on this holiday. Then back to the ship and laid about beside the pool until we sailed in the evening.
