Four Points by Sheraton Zagreb
Travel Blogs from Zagreb
The drive today was uneventful. A few tragic jams between München and Salzburg due to roadworks. We also had a heaven downpour just after entering Croatia with lots of lightning strikes next to the road.
On arrival I went to the wrong hotel. There are 2 Sheraton hotels and I picked the wrong one on the navi. Still we got to ours a few …
At 10:45 am we left Munich after maps and syncing problems. Up to Salzburg, it was only jams. Arrived in Zagreb at 5:30 pm after being in the wrong Sheraton. That 5 star hotel in the center was really fantastic but was the wrong one. Ours was the Sheraton 5 points panorama in the middle of a rather scruffy area being renovated, next to a chemical …
hedgehog. Yes a hedgehog!! After a most excellent day of training and lifting we head back to the meat place for dinner. After a great meal with John, Cantwell's agent, and Nedzed one of the Croatian throwers. We got a taxi back to the hotel. Yet this wasn't just any taxi as we approached there was a puppy right outside the cab. Then the cab driver …
Today was the IAAF World Challenge in Zagreb, Croatia. Cantwell heaved a toss of 22.22 on his 2nd attempt to claim the meet record and title of the competition. Comfortable room. A few bars and restaurants right outside and 6 tram stops from the central area.
Negative points: Toilet flush broken, we had to life the lid and pull a plastic tube to flush. Hot water wasn't. one light switch defective.
There is free wifi internet BUT you need a code that is only valid for one connection. Loose the connection and you cant continue without tramping to the reception and getting a new code. There was a wireless router in our room and when connected via cable, it was not necessary to have a code. Lucky for me I had my MacBook with me, so a quick wired connection and created an ad-hoc wireless router out of the Mac :) I was even then able to build a VPN connection from my iPhone back to my Synology server at home.
