Two Evenings with Pearl Jam

Two evenings with Pearl Jam.... These were the two consecutive days that Sharon was dreading the most about our trip. But, finally they were here. We were seeing Pearl Jam live in Vienna and Zagreb. We met up with the Touring Bus people who we were travelling with between Vienna and Zagreb. They were a group of people (fanatics) who were travelling around the whole of Europe seeing pretty much every Pearl Jam show. The bulk of them were really nice people, a couple of weirdo's in there though...

Last day in Zagreb

... obvious that European cities do a much better job of looking after the inhabitants. All they want to do in Australia is make rules to make it hard to have fun. Oh, but what they never stop doing is telling you how great Tasmania is and how picturesque it is and how we have a view that is unique and the mountain and the port etc. etc. Don't these people realise that everyone loves a port and a mountain and a river... and ...

Croatian Study Tour - Zagreb

... 269;a, a 40 meter lift that took us from the shopping area up to some more churches and eateries.

When it was time for dinner we wondered around looking for a place to eat and had somehow ended up in an area with almost all bars and no restaurants!  We found a promising looking place called Restaurant Boban and had to go down two flights of stairs to a basement to get there!  It was well worth it though and they had a variety of food.  Since I was still ...

Birthday in the Balkans

... way down to Split and then island-hop down the coast, but when the weather forecast for Split was not promising and we found a great deal on a flight, we made a beeline directly for Dubrovnik. If you're headed to Zagreb: 1) You should know that the museums, for some inexplicable reason, are only open until 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Because people really go to museums more often on Tuesday afternoons than Saturday afternoons...? 2) Get a ham and ketchup pastry from ...

Blessings and Karsts

... a very modern and modernising city. The locals are glamourous, revelling in their current prosperity, consuming madly all things modern and western. Europeanising in a word, not that there was ever much doubt. And at the centre of all this bustling modernity and crumbling history is the old town. When i arrived, Zagreb felt empty. Here in the old town is where the people take refuge from the heat. and they do so under umbrellas emblazoned with beer ...

broken trams, litres of coffee and the laud bus

... our workshop in the musk however we decided to see it on the next day. My impressions about Zagreb?? It reminds me of Polish Wroclaw at the beginnings of 90`s. The trams are old and sometimes are broken on the way or dont arrive at all, some of the buildings require renovation but from the other hand it`s something different than the Western Europe, another world. And people...I`ve never met more welcoming ones! The prayer in the evening really made me chilled out. The ...
