Leros is a very small island in the Dodecanese. We took a ferry there from Athens and it took about 11 hours. We arrived at 4.30am, grabbed a freshly baked croissant from a bakery that was open and then drove to a hill, and we all slept in the car until it was time to check in to our hotel.

My Nanny and Poppy came and met us in Leros and we stayed at a really nice hotel for nine nights. We swam in the pool everyday. Because ...

To take pictures in the monastery is forbidden so one is forced to commit ...

We spent the morning on Ikaria, an island untouched by tourism. It was so nice to wander in a village seeing the locals just doing their day-to-day chores, not trying to sell things to tourists. It felt 'real'. In the afternoon we headed for Delos and put the sails up for the first ...

... surrounds this monastery; we walked through narrow alleyways flanked by more whitewashed houses - but of quite different architecture to those on Santorini. Murray and I opted to walk back down to the village of Skala, the walkway was built from stones - like cobbles but very undulating - we had to watch every step - it was still worth the walk though. Rain set in during the late afternoon, hopefully it will be all over ...
