The windmill pics were taken in the town of Kinderdijk ( means child's dike ). We visited a UNESCO site to view old windmills .

Finished the day in the lounge on board listening to the Shanty Choir - Old Sailor Tunes

... as well as we walked around! Then we wandered to the tourist office, picked up some information about where to rent bikes for tomorrow's bike ride to the Kinderdijk, and a map and some general Rotterdam touristy leaflets. We wandered home to change into jeans as it wasn't the warmest day as it turned out.

At home, one of Andre's future flatmates was home, Nik. We got chatting to him and he was not only Dutch and from Rotterdam (so very useful to talk to) ...

... information. The rest of the day was basically spent wandering around the streets and stopping to consult my map. The street signs in Amsterdam were a major challenge and very unclear. I got lost numerous times including in Vonderpark, a beautiful park but also really big. Getting lost wasn't a major concern though given I had so much time on my hands and the pure beauty of the city. Still quite cold today though, about 11 degrees with a cool breeze so ...

... and then to the nederlands architecture institute which had some wonderful concepts. I didn't really know where I was going but after some hacking about I found the Erasmus bridge and then the euromast. The Euromast is a 180m tall tower with a restaurant and lobby at the top. I went all the way to the top where I was greeted by the most spectacular panorama view. I could see miles and miles-the city centre, the skyline, Europe's largest port filled with massive ships ...

... local delicacies, including fermented mare’s milk. I passed. We were also introduced to the “bones” game. This is not a game for vegetarians, played as it is using the ankle bones of sheep, but fabulously addictive and I was apparently the first tourist ever to beat the super competitive Okka. No letting the guests win here! When we were back in Ulaan Baatar we managed to buy a set of bones, so if you fancy trying to end my 100% ...
