... in Kuching. The cosmopolitan and (seemingly) friendly vibe had been replaced by a town less travelled by tourists. There were very few white faces here, and Chinese seem to dominate the local populace, rather than muslim Malays. This was a good thing in that beer and pork were readily available, and not such a good thing in that staring was a lot more prominent.

A small ride on a trishaw ( local tuctuc) to find a hawckers market. Every one pick a choice among the zillions of food stand and we call it a day. Back to sleep and I escaped for a 2 hours thai massage.....the roughest ever!
... a great day and spent a lot of time with a family which left that afternoon. Then we played cards and Magalie won, even though she tried to let Dad win.
The sensible half arrived back after 7 hours of classroom.
After a swim and a visit from a snake, we had a takeaway from a local restaurant where we could not understand the menu and there were no prices. You just know you are going to get ripped off.
Total price for 4 meals? Five euros ...

We stayed in a cheap hotel for a few days, getting a tent, circumventing the cheesy karaoke joints and organising a motorbike.
First stop was Manana, which we heard so much about. You have to get out there by boat, there is no internet (oh torture for me), but they were in the process of expanding, so we got to try out wakeboarding for free (for a promotional video) and it was a truly lovely spot.
