    ... springing up all over the place. However, in the middle of all this is a protected 'village' in traditional Malay style. It provides a fascinating juxtaposition to the nearby office blocks housing multinational accounting firms. The village is very well maintained and suspiciously uniform, which makes us think that the authorities send plenty of money its way to keep it looking quaint for the tourists.     ... some pool time, and a bit more shopping! In the evenings we managed to find more great food including some more fantastic Indian food. Pak Putra sells northern Indian food, so curries that are much more like those we have in the UK than we'd found in Penang. A bit of the beaten track, and alcohol free, the restaurant is a little gem. By night their tables spill out onto the road and the three tandoor ovens are all working continuously churning out amazing tandoori ...

    ... the evening while it was dark. got quite chocked when i stepped out of the door the next morning and were facing a mosque on a beautiful street full of chinese shops and with a chinese temple close by. while walking around i found plenty of places to eat cheap good food, galleries, museums and small pretty decorated stores selling everything you need (and don't need). the place is actually a unesco world heritage city. it's quite funny ...

    ... at the shack and went on our way. We knew it was a mistake leaving Dean to find his own way although I had given him written instructions on what train to get, where to change, to make sure the train was going in the right direction etc. He should have been about 45 mins behind us - TWO hours later he turned up - yes he went in the wrong direction - he just cannot do anything on his own!
