    ... next to the straits of Melaka, the oceanic gateway from the West to the East. There was also randomly a Hard Rock Cafe overlooking the river (is there anywhere nowadays without one?!) and we stopped to have a drink to help our flagging souls at one of the small riverside cafes.     ... way and then looped back. So what I thought was a 15 minute ride ended up being almost an hour. Guess what that meant! I saw my 2pm bus to Singapore drive out of the station as we pulled in. Perfect! So with that I walked the many stalls till finally finding one that had a bus leaving at three as opposed to seven (when I had told Britt and Sean I intended to arrive). Phew! With that my adventure of Malaysia winded down in the colonial town of Melaka! Next stamp in my passport is Singapore ...

    ... to get to Malacca in one day from the Cameron Highlands. Fortunately the night market was worth the long journey and we were relieved to find that it wasn't as busy as some of the other tourist orientated night markets we've visited, meaning we actually had room to move whilst browsing the numerous stalls, the majority of which were food related - perfect!     ... but the ferries that service the coastal islands are not even guaranteed to operate. Most of the tourist facilities are shut down until mid Feb. and diving visibility is poor. That leaves us with a couple of Islands on the west coast for beach time and the Cameron Highlands of coffee/tea plantations and jungle walks. If we do head toThailand too early we have to leave on what they refer to as a visa run at least once more before we fly home. (30 day visa). ...
