... We join the throng filing around the tomb. It is a simple stone sarcophagus set in on open column with a simple iron grate above and below it set on a modest pile of concreted rocks. There is a simple altar in front of and below the sarcophagus. It looks like this simple, humble man's life has been respected and honoured in his death. Late morning we had tours of St. Francis church ending at his tomb. After we spent some time there we headed to the hotel to check in and get lunch. Italians eat a lot of carbs, which don't fill you up for very long, so by the time we say down to lunch I was starving. I had some ...

... intention. Aldo confirmed that Italy remembers end of First War on 4th November and hence the service.

Like at home, each child read some lines from a prearranged script, showing their respect and the whole service was over in about twenty minutes. Shaking of hands, Italian kisses for each young school girl, one on each cheek, by Mayor, then they dispersed.

We just happened to be there, it was lovely.
