... the bus stop, and after all that sweaty traveling, we simply did not feel like trekking around town. We met two guys traveling through on their way to Nicaragua to surf and before we knew it, another game of kings had commenced! It´s such a handy card game for getting to know people..and it´s guaranteed to make everyone laugh, a lot! After a few rounds and some crazy photos, we decided to go out to one of the bars-as a woman, you can never resist ladies night, especially on ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica jeridolp... tight stitches to the "Dr" I think he was an EMT, but he seemed confident and in the Tico way of no confrontation, he gave the "no problem, no problem". We took a few photos, I know it sound macbre but its a story and she should document it since she couldn't see it, once we did show her the pics, she wasn't too happy, she didn't like the look of it, but the dr would only let 1 person in and Sara stayed with her in the room. Hayley said they were fine and Andreas had another van ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica albert413... con leche and headed out, we had Pedro for an instructor and he was great and Rafa came out as well and really helped cuz i was having troubling paddling and popping up cuz of my shoulder was just sore and tired and I was compensating with my right arm hence why i kept falling right...so we came back in and practiced on the beach and made some adjustments and went back out and started catching waves again! I was stoked ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica albert413... soon as I went to stand up. Helloooo?!?!? What a silly girl I am. :) Next time, maybe even tomorrow, I think I will rent a board for couple of hours and give it a go on my own. I learn well that way once I know some basics as I do not feel pressure from the instructor. Oooh, instructor was surprised to hear I was American. He was sure European. I know, I know, my ancestors are from there ...

Tamarindo, Costa Rica albert413... Liberia, the first town of any size in Costa Rica, found a hotel at the highway intersection that once wanted to be a Best Western, with a pool and an okay restaurant. We swam laps, cooled off, ate undistinguished food and slept in air conditioning. The next morning, we headed for the coast, the peninsula that juts down into the Pacific from Costa Rica's northern border, to a town called Tamarindo, once renowned for its surfing culture and now known for its expensive American ...
Tamarindo, Costa Rica spocream... the people I have chatted with, there aren't any that I want to spend any time with! I find a lot of travellers think that they have the answer to the world's problems but they're just hanging out, having a nice time on the beach and not really doing much about it!! (Neither am I, but I know it!!). And then, there's the "I've done more than you" type! "Oh, yeah, I've been there", "oh yeah, I've done that". "What?? you haven't see this??". I've also seen a couple of ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica lizardom... all the tracks and all that was left were millions of vultures feasting on exposed eggs and a dead turtle (probably due to a fishing boat). We had a couple of Coffees and started heading back home. We caught a ride to Nosara easily, we thought we´d get a coffee and walked into a Cafe de Paris (in Costa Rica), their phony French accents obviously justified their outrageous prices - internet at $6 an hour! I was slightly angered that these people were so close to such a ...
Ostional, Costa Rica glassman... we were staying at the apartments 300m up the road which were good and still had use of pool and jacuzzi plus next to beach pretty much (a pricey $30 a night). Down to the beach which was beautiful stretched for miles and virtually empty and great waves. Reminded us of Noosa (our hopeful destination in Oz) and me of Northumberland or Pembroke. Swam in the pool and chilled in the jacuzzi before an early night. Shattered again. Thurs Despite ...
Playa Grande, Costa Rica emanddaveMichael and I wandered the quiet streets of La Fortuna on Tuesday, anticipating our evening tour of Arenal. It was a surprisingly warm and sunny day, especially since the day before had been filled with torrential rain. After grabbing a late breakfast in a tropical garden with views of the volcano and browsing through some shops, we wandered into a beautiful Spanish-style church, where we gave our appreciation for all of life's gifts to the spirits above. Soon ...
