We were unable to see the Aspendos Theatre as it has been closed for renovations, but we did see the reconstructed bridge and the aquaduct. In the 1930's Atatürk, after tourıng the area, declared that theatre was too beautiful not to use and had renovations done and it now is the home of live performances. ... handbags, jewelry and cheap trinkets. With the help of friendly locals we readily found Antonio's Motel.

The fellows there made us feel welcome and served us a welcome coffee. They found a place nearby for us to park and showed us to our simple but sufficient room. From the balcony, we could see some of the ruins that were scattered through town. We went exploring.

... knows how strong the smell might be when it is full of prostrate bodies.....

The day has been gloriously sunny and wam. Perfect weather.

The plan tomorrow is to be woken at 0515, for breakfast at 0545, and to leave on the 12 hour coach trip for Cappadocia shortly after that.

I just hope no one drank the pomegranate juice today.
We were warned that we have to cross the mountains tomorrow and there are no trees or bushes for three hours.

My first impression is: Resort towns abound...almost feels like driving down any blvd in southern Florida...well not quite...we still pass the occasional Mosque with their minarets reaching for the heavens. And there are all the solar water heaters on top of EVERY ...

We liked Konya as far as a big..not Hugh...but big Turkish city goes...THIS one did not have that chaotic feel to it. I made the mistake of thinking the Dervishes were whirling nightly. NOT. Darn! I am very saddened that I will miss the Dervish here. I guess this just means it will always be calling me back. In spite of the inland pervasive pollution...I do love this country. I am slowly getting a better understanding of it and it's people. I ...
