          ... Joe had been to Phuket before and were staying onboard. We could get a cab but the roads were not that great and having to be back on board by 3:30 was a deterrent. Others on this cruise had been to Phuket before, but they had docked at the other end of the island and were able to walk off the ship into the main city of Phuket (the area hit by the tsunami) and they had enjoyed it very much and were unhappy about docking this time so far from the action.           ... of corellas. While we were waiting for the bird show to start we watched a magician perform some tricks and met some horn bills. We also held a toucan who slapped Sally's arm with her meat treat! Once in the bird show we saw macaws and sun parrots who had races and macaws who rode tricycles amongst others.           We find some book shops ( gooday fellow book club members), I found a 2nd hand copy of Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey for 200 baht ($6) but no copy of Culture Shocks and Canapes, what a bummer.
