Beautiful place - worth a trip in itself

Every once in a while, if you are lucky, you stumble upon a hotel that is worth a trip in itself. Rendezvous is one of those gems. As you enter through the doors from the parking in front of the B&B, you get this soothing feeling of a place made for relaxation. The check-in process is far from your regular hotel experience - here they will sit down with you and go through the reservation, tell you about the area and give you some tips on what you can do. The place also has a bunch of books, magazines, games and videos you can borrow. The rooms have their individual theme - we stayed in Route 66 since we were on a roadtrip :-). The room was good sized with separate WC and bathroom, and the bed was soooo comfortable. The Rendezvous team serves up cocktails between 5 and 6, which is a brilliant way to relax after a day of exploring the area. The breakfast deserves a separate and massive cudos - so tasty and fresh; a smoothie, fruit salad and a hot main. Brilliant start to the day.

We loved staying here, and hated leaving. Next time we'll stay longer for sure. (Sidenote; our stay was just before the property was sold to new owners. Hopefully they will continue in the same spirit)

Well as you know we decided to stay at the Rendezvous for another night so we meet for a 3 course breakfast, yes it is just a Motel! We were treated to a fresh smoothie, fruit platter & a California cooked breakfast! After this we swooped rooms, Mel & Frankal into the Hawaiian room & us into the TV Shows room. We then headed off on the …

We left sleepy Julian after an unusual home cooked breakfast just as the town was waking again to the sound of bikes arriving. We headed out on 78 & 79 past Lake Henshaw, not really a lake now due to the drought. The drive was cool & the roads again turning & changing the view on each corner. We stopped on the 371 which was the only …

... a public toilet, the children had some fun playing in the ruins an old burnt out house - just a brick chimney with some old tins cans in the hearth. We could see some sand dunes in the distance and when I checked the map it was an area called Devils Playground so the children were excited to go have some fun. A few miles down the road was a turn off for Kelso Dunes so we turned off down a very bumpy dirt track for a few miles ...

... wanted to get on the road so we pretty much threw everything into the car and camper with the intention of organizing later, once we live on the road for a few days and figure out the best way to do it.

We're calling our trip "Hikes and Hops" because we'll be doing a lot of hiking and going to a lot of breweries. We're going to be traveling for several months, so if you have any suggestions let us know! We'd love to see you somewhere along the way!

... paved lot and we stayed here four nights. We met a couple in a nearby rig who go around to different art and Indian events selling Indian jewelry. They were very nice to visit with. Since there are no hookups campers need to dump their black and gray water if they stay too long and we found a dump site at a nearby truck stop. There is another casino about two miles away, The Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio. They also have a nice designated spot for ...
