Beautiful place - worth a trip in itself

Every once in a while, if you are lucky, you stumble upon a hotel that is worth a trip in itself. Rendezvous is one of those gems. As you enter through the doors from the parking in front of the B&B, you get this soothing feeling of a place made for relaxation. The check-in process is far from your regular hotel experience - here they will sit down with you and go through the reservation, tell you about the area and give you some tips on what you can do. The place also has a bunch of books, magazines, games and videos you can borrow. The rooms have their individual theme - we stayed in Route 66 since we were on a roadtrip :-). The room was good sized with separate WC and bathroom, and the bed was soooo comfortable. The Rendezvous team serves up cocktails between 5 and 6, which is a brilliant way to relax after a day of exploring the area. The breakfast deserves a separate and massive cudos - so tasty and fresh; a smoothie, fruit salad and a hot main. Brilliant start to the day.

We loved staying here, and hated leaving. Next time we'll stay longer for sure. (Sidenote; our stay was just before the property was sold to new owners. Hopefully they will continue in the same spirit)

      Good morning Palm Springs!

We can tell we're out in the desert as we walk out into the pool area of the hotel for breakfast. 8.30AM and it's already almost 30 degrees. It seems like we managed to pick a great day to go to Joshua Tree. After a stellar 3 course breakfast we get on the road for the 1 hr drive to Joshua Tree National Park. The …

Today is primarily a travelling day, and after a nice and slow start we start making our way towards Palm Springs. The drive is mainly freeways as we haven't planned any sightseeing along the route. It's a couple of hours drive from Burbank to Palm Springs and thanks to our slow start and a quick Starbucks breakfast we manage to avoid all of the …

... and quickly set-up camp. We woke up Friday organized our gear and made the first of many 2 mile bike treks to the polo grounds. The ponchos came in handy because we had some rain, wind and cold. Weather didn't slow us down much though as we bounced around, from Feed Me to Arctic Monkeys, Swedish House Mafia, and the highlight of Day 1...M83. We arrived early to their stage and worked our way ...

      Lake Havasu, CA

A travel blog entry by jimcabay on Apr 09, 2011

... Havasu City is built on the east side of a 75 mile long man-made lake when they built the Parker Dam at Topock gorge to the south. Considering that this is the only lake within a two hundred mile radius, there are lots of boats and numerous ongoing fishing tournaments all the time. Apparently, they fish for striped bass, largemouth bass, trout, crappie and catfish. The whole area is full of steep hills, canyons and gravel/sand dunes and all ...
