Beautiful place - worth a trip in itself

Every once in a while, if you are lucky, you stumble upon a hotel that is worth a trip in itself. Rendezvous is one of those gems. As you enter through the doors from the parking in front of the B&B, you get this soothing feeling of a place made for relaxation. The check-in process is far from your regular hotel experience - here they will sit down with you and go through the reservation, tell you about the area and give you some tips on what you can do. The place also has a bunch of books, magazines, games and videos you can borrow. The rooms have their individual theme - we stayed in Route 66 since we were on a roadtrip :-). The room was good sized with separate WC and bathroom, and the bed was soooo comfortable. The Rendezvous team serves up cocktails between 5 and 6, which is a brilliant way to relax after a day of exploring the area. The breakfast deserves a separate and massive cudos - so tasty and fresh; a smoothie, fruit salad and a hot main. Brilliant start to the day.

We loved staying here, and hated leaving. Next time we'll stay longer for sure. (Sidenote; our stay was just before the property was sold to new owners. Hopefully they will continue in the same spirit)

... site was very peaceful, nice people, pleasant place to unwind. The Salton Sea has a very interesting history. We really enjoyed the stay. Now… off to Quartzite, Arizona, to what’s said to be one of the nation’s largest camping shows. Not too many more days to t-shirts and shorts! Then  off to Mesa to pick up mail & stock up on groceries for the drive to Tombstone Territory… and New Mexico sites (Carlsbad Caverns…) and continue on to the south ...

... car at the front and tent at the back. Everyone gets a plot and the cars are lined up in rows, again much more organised than UK festivals where it's a free for all and everyone runs to the fields with their tent pegs in hand to stake claim on the best spot. We got set up but quickly realised a few school boy errors, we had no canopy or other form of shade. This was a bad thing in 105' temperatures! We also quickly realised that we were in the state of ...

... I’ll likely get rid of the fall blooms and put in some poinsettias in a few weeks.

For the American Thanksgiving we attended a community dinner in the clubhouse. There were several groups of 8 couples each and everyone brought a particular dish to the table. In other words, a planned potluck. The malls are abuzz with shoppers getting fantastic deals leading up to "Black Friday." Hemet is within hour drive ...

... expecting to see the earth's crusts nashing together but there was not a bit of movement. We read the sign, and had we had the time ( 10 million years) to wait we would have seen these parts move all the way to San Fransisco. But we didn't have the time and the sun was setting.

After leaving the wilds of Wallace Creek, Mike decided, mistakenly, to listen to " that woman" on the GPS rather than his wife concerning how to get out of the area. We drove - by then in the ...
