... was the first time I'd encountered this in Paris. In Rome we had a very similar experience. There they follow you and pester you and refuse to leave you alone, but in Paris they've always walked on. One even stopped a bus for us after we'd refused to buy his wares. But not tonight. After much the same day as I'd experienced on the Sunday of last year's visit, we farewelled Ethel for the night and headed back to the hotel. A 5.30am start awaits us ...

... I had to cut 160 photos down to about 45.
I am so pleased to have ended my visit to Paris with a visit to such a special place. It is definitely up there in the top 10 places in the world. Unfortunately that just means that the crowds of people who want to see it just keeps getting bigger.
At the moment it is still worth the pushing and shoving and queuing to be among the lucky few able to visit such special ...

... the right exit for the opera house and voila we were there. It is an incredibly large building on the outside with beautiful gold leaf ornamentation and sculpture. Karl and I were not able to tour the last time we were here because they were preparing for a production so you couldn't see the actual theatre. It was raining pretty hard so luckily I remembered how to find the entrance for the visit. It was $10 euro and not covered by the ...
