... Galle was a European fort after it was a Sinhalese settlement. The dutch arrived and built a basic fort here in 1588, following this the Portragese conquered the Dutch with a slave army and built what we see today. The Galle fort is one of the best preserved 14th century European forts in Asia and here's the best bit - I'm sleeping within it! On the way a fisherman joins me, he has a thin bamboo rod in his hand and is heading to the rocks.
