Wild(life) Weekend!

... in Calgary two winters ago, so we actually got to know him then. We met up with Joe at a delicious Italian restaurant that he frequents...great food. Then he took us off to a local microbrewery for few drinks. Later we thought it would be a good idea to check out one more tavern, which was a flashback to the Vil days for you Acadia alumni (we felt old!). All in all, a great night, and amazing hospitality shown by Joe...but I think we all had a ...

Bis auf die Tatsache dass einem beim Schnorcheln im Wasser ohne ...

Stranded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Alice Springs to Cairns

... as long as the water is deep enough a croc can jump their own body length out of the water, remember that when climbing trees over water! Some of the male beasts were also fed and the sound of the air being pushed out of their jaws when they snap it shut is chilling. The park has a museum of all things crocs, which my most vivid memory was a picture of a croc that had been caught and cut open as it was suspected to have eaten a little boy and it had this poor little boy whole ...

... went and did a skydive. From 14,000ft, you pick up speed pretty quickly and it gets a bit terrifying. Once the chute opens, its a nice few minutes of enjoying the scenery and trying to steer. Of course the guy strapped to your back does most of the work, including the very hard bit- the jump out of the plane.
All good, except we took almost no photos. Sorry! We have pix and video of the skydives, and will get them up soon.
... as she did before and as the other female premiers did). So girl power to her, and thank god those bloody ads are over. I wish I was coming back to the UK for a better reason, but I'll be glad to be home. For all I've complained, Australia is a nice enough country, and I've had some good times here, and met some nice people. I will be coming back later in the year, I'm certain of it - due to my innate inability to plan anything ...

Cairns: Diving the Legendary Great Barrier Reef

... USD3bn in annual revenue for Australia. We were dropped off at the Hotel Bellview, which sits on the seafront road in Cairns. Unfortunately, because of the marine harbor and a lack of natural sandbars, Cairns is not a beach destination itself. The guys at the hotel were incredibly helpful, having arrangements with all of the dive shops in town, and provided us tons of information on the current weather, path of the cyclone, visibility and water temperature out on the reef (dive ...

... seen tea growing or even knew how it grew. Being tired we decided to have dinner at the hotel which was excellent. We also booked an excursion for Sunday and then retired for the night. Day12 Feb. 22nd (Sunday) Up early again but not as early as yesterday and it is still raining. We walked to the harbour wearing our rain ponchos and boarded a catamaran to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef. It was pouring buckets when we arrived but it didn't last long. We ...

... For a powered site it is $23.50 and unpowered is $16.50 per night for a family. With the wind still blowing I think we will stay on unpowered and out of the wind while we are here. Daniel and Stephen headed off to the jetty to do some fishing (nothing caught to write about) and Ryan and I headed off to stock up the cupboards and fridge yet again. I am a person who has always loved shopping ...

Day 277 - Sunburn

... of the time we were annoying other swimmers by throwing the ball around pretty violently, occasionally hitting people which would have been funny if it weren't for the luck on their faces. All this time, I stupidly did not put any suntan lotion on because I thought I would be ok with the tan I already had. Well, I was wrong and as a result, my back and chest were burnt but luckily not too bad. With today ...

And it was over dinner where Mick and I learned that he lived in the same building in the very same apartment complex in Sydney’s Inner West that I had lived in – albeit I had moved out of there a year before he moved in. I couldn’t help but think of a couple of good pizza shops around there, and it made my empty tummy grumble.

After the snack that passed for dinner we were driven to a privately owned beach near the resort, where we ...
