    Arriving

A travel blog entry by rhysagray on Aug 10, 2015

I am here! My connection in Rome was delayed by an hour, and my baggage did not make the connection like I was told it would, but hey ho, there is little I can do now! Martino and Margarita welcomed me with open arms, I felt like a part of the family since I got here at 11:00 on Saturday 8/08/15. I met mantas, the workawayer I replaced, from Lithuania, and together we finished the days jobs straight away. Margarita made us pane con pomodoro e ...

    Excursion to Cefalu

... of villages, a very big industrial estate, had to go through the middle of the city in Termini Imerse and finally reached Cefalu. I had studied the map before to seek for parking spaces, but the reality turned out a bit more difficult. All streets were reserved for locals and like in most italian villages no parking space to find. So we drove and drove but finally got an excellent spot close to town where we could park the car safely. Right in time to go to the Duomo before ...

... Anyway we decided to go by train to Palermo - trying to avoid the nightmare of finding a parking spot. Car drive was only to Santa Flavia Railway station which was 5 min from our 'home'. Train took 15 minutes to bring us to the middle of Palermo.
From there we had a walking tour from the guide books we brought with us. So first stop was the cathedral. Like most people will admit, much more ...

From the bike to the car

A travel blog entry by johan.maes.1426 on Jul 21, 2015

... they didn't like it. So again new papers. Well this will be my second review on travel-whatever about poor service and lack of customer service.
Finally we got our car, we ordered a Renault Clio and got away with an extended Fiat 500L. Don't know whether this is an upgrade here in Sicily but the car is definitively larger than the Clio but the streets in Sicily are not really big. Btw the car does not turn very well despite the size of the streets. ...

    The final trip on bike

A travel blog entry by johan.maes.1426 on Jul 20, 2015

... divided between a visit to the church with more the 6000m2 decorated golden mosaics - they call it the biggest bible in pictures - an amazing view. Also climbed the tower and got a nice view over the city and Palermo, but also the cloister.
Second activity was a bar with a nice beer and granita and watching other people in the bar. Saw for the first time 'sandwich - ice', bitterly a sandwich type of roll (brioche) filled with ice cream. Very ...
