METSOVO

SAILING IN THE LAKE TO THE ISLAND OF IOANNINA





We take the sailing boat and in just 25 minutes we come to the island.

It is famous for it's beauty, and there we visit the museum of Ali Pasa.



The ticket costs 1.80 euros.

MONODENDRI

This beautiful Zagori village we visit todayy is about 41 km from the city of Ioannina.
It maintains intact the traditional stone-built architecture.
The Church of Agios Athanasios in the central square is of significan historical value.

We come here for lunch. From here are are going to visit the Gorge, but also I have a stroll in the village to take some photos and admire the architecture.

After getting up (what means around noon in this flat haha) i packed my stuff, had a hard goodbye and head south, with Athens as my destination.
I tried to catch a map of Greece to have a clue about the roads, but i could not manage it.

Anyway i started thumbing, without having a good spot. After moving several times to different spots, around 2 hours have passed and i walked around 7 or ...

... and learn every time they came to church. A delicacy found on the island (and I'm sure in the city too) is frog legs. I didn't have any, but I heard they taste just like chicken. =) We got to wander around the island a little, but its mostly residential and not that much to see outside of the main area with maybe 10 cafes and 6 small shops or so--very small island. I might go back over one of these days just to kind of explore part of the island that we didn't see. Side ...
