... it was terrible. I was supposed to arrive at the airport and meet Alec at 6:30pm but at that stage we were still stuck in traffic at Chatswood. Me in a total freak out decided the only logical way I was going to get to the airport on time was by jumping on a train. ... holidays and leading up to Easter weekend, Sydney was packed. We joined the queues for the Skytower to get a good view of the city. Unfortunately no cocktails this time. ... That also explains the couples with evening dress in the bar as lots of people going to the Opera are similarly attired. Makes us feel like scruffy tourists so we move on but the moment of celebrity on the red carpet was fun.

In the evening we have dinner in one of the restaurants at the hotel complex. There are several of them but they are all busy and have been so the whole day, mostly with people who look like locals. This time Sydney is starting to live up to its reputation.
