... the Island in Myrtos. The stops before Myrtos were unremarkable but the drive over there, in a four hour loop, took in some staggering views and both beautiful and bleak countryside. Myrtos is a small town/large village on the sea and has a somewhat cool vibe as lots of back packers stop there to apparently sleep in the beach (although we didn't see any camping on the sand). Following a bizarre hotel breakfast buffet which included orange cordial, cake, ...

We were welcomed to our Olympos accommodation as members of the family and almost begged to return next year: "we build this place for people like you, not. Just any people, special people". The locals are as friendly and welcoming as ever and whilst a couple have expressed disappointment with the British media, they are far more disparaging of both the Germans and their own Prime Minister. We have lucked out again with the apartment being quite high up which means the view is once again terrific, also from here we're able to throw coins at passers by and shout "let them eat cake". When we return we are in the highest ...

Last night we had some fun swimming in the pool - Kelly tried to teach chris to float without much success. Over our time on Crete we've met a bunch of people from the Netherlands. The owners of the hotel we're staying at are Dutch, so we think that might be why there are so many Dutch people here. So we've been talking to them about Dutch food and they keep encouraging us to order the croquettes at the hotel, which is a Dutch snack that ...
