We had no internet in the hotel last night so I'm writing yesterday's entry today on our way to Rome. So yesterday, Friday, we left Austria and made our way to ITALY!! It is absolutely just like the postcards. It may be the wine and pasta talking but it was an absolutely amazing day. We traveled for a fair bit but left early in the morning to ensure we had enough time in Venice, the floating city. I knew that Carnival was coming up but it actually started today, so ...
... and spent about a half hour enjoying the sunrise and taking lots of photos in the gorgeous golden morning light. We hopped the vaporetto back to Rialto, popped into a little shop and picked up some (really really sweet) cream filled pastries and back to the room for a shower and breakfast.

I made Venetian chicken for dinner, which is actually just chicken pieces and whatever I could find in the cupboard, with a slug of wine, but it impressed Terry.
Rosie, I nearly bought you a beautiful hair clip, but it turned out to be a fridge magnet. I'll keep trying, maybe with my glasses on. ...
... seats. Who needs flight entertainment when we had a 'live' one on business class with us.
Our compensation was a free bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
We arrived in Venice quite late on Thursday night.
Awoke early on Friday with exploration on our mind and off we went bright and early to check out this beautiful city.
It has been a wonderful experience to rediscover Venice and its wonderful delights in the Summer. We love ...
