... bumped into Edwina and Peter again and stopped to chat. They are a lovely couple, very easy to chat to. Peter is the co founder of Hotel Chocolat so that was interesting to hear about. A Bellini and a Gin Fizz later and we were feeling very relaxed with the world! Hopped back on ferry to travel to Mennagio which was pretty but a lot quieter than Bellagio. Back on ferry again (only about 10 mins each time) to visit Varenna. Shared a pizza and beer before heading ...

... few buildings (again, covered in creeper vines) before we saw the little harbour where a lady was starting to dispose of some stale bread to the ducks. Our kids were quick to take the bread when the lady offered it, and it kept the kids entertained for ages. The ducks must be used to it as they were feeding straight from the hand. Our memory of Bellagio will be of the duck feeding on the other side rather than the ritzy hotels facing the harbour ...

Went to the market in Lennon, the weather was overcast and rain in the afternoon and evening. Went to our apartment to have roast chicken (from the market) with H&W with salad and bread. In the evening we went to Argegno for drinks. Happy hours....served with pizza, focaccia, cheese & honey, salami etc, all free of ...

... again equally busy. I think all 80,000 Lugano'ites turned up for lunch and this time it had a distictly German feel with umpa bands, sourkraut and a range of other not so appetising foods on offer. The kids had been nagging us and we gave in to them and walked into the most expensive Burger King store in the world. $60 for 3 whopper meals - I must say they tasted pretty good though. We then hired a pedal boat and nearly had a run in with a Ferry as I was providing ...

Saturday Oct 4 We met our guide at 9-30am and made our way down to the Bellagio lakeside where we boarded a water taxi for our tour. Bit of a squash with 14 people; Rosa's son Nick has joined us for the rest of the trip. We motored around the Bellagio headland to the fishing village of Pescallo, very picturesque. It's also gave us a view of our hotel and the Rockerfella Foundation villa ...
