... stop for me is Villa Carlotta which is a villa and a lovely garden. 9 euro. Back in the boat to Bellagio. Another beautiful town. I have lunch here. I have a buffet which is disappointing. You actually have to use a microwave to heat things if you want them hot. Didn't realise this to start with. You can go back 3 times (primo, secondi and dessert). Cost 15euro including a glass of wine. Back on the boat ...

I'm on the move again today. Metro to Termini train station and fast train to Milan at 11am. Takes 3 hours. Speeds of around 248 kms an hour. My ears keep popping when we go through the tunnels. The terrain is very similar to down south. Rolling hills etc., with flat plains in between. I can't see so many olive trees though and there's a lot more grape vines. We missed the last bus for our trip back to Bellagio but the waiters organised for the owner to take us back to Bellagio himself. Great food, great service and a nice chat with the owner on the way home was the perfect way to end another great stay in beautiful Bellagio.

... t eaten we went there for a quick bite. A tasting plate of meats, cheese and pizza and a glass of wine was exactly what we wanted. We then walked around the corner to have that long awaited coffee fix. It didn't disappoint. Magnificent.
Showed Sue around parts of Bellagio and some of the great shops. It was very busy but by 6pm, the tourists had left!! Had dinner and headed back to the apartment.
We are really looking forward to having a few days to relax and chill out. ...

... on the mark….he warns not to confuse the end-point destination of Torino with Tirano and he tells us that the Varenna platform is so short that we will likely have to disembark the train in the tunnel. This kind of information makes traveling so much less stressful. I really wish I could thank Rick Steves in person for his local-esque information.

Sharing a cab with a fellow train passenger, it took only ...
