      ... train to
Milan and fly out, bound for Brisbane. We are both pleased to be heading home to visit our family and friends (and doggies), but we will certainly miss Italy and all its charms.

We've had a fantastic time here, met some lovely people and made some incredible memories. Hopefully one day, we can come back.

Sorry no piccies on this post - will add them later as we are out of charge on the computer!

      Ciao for now.

... outside again, it really sinks in: it's getting really, really cold... and my sleeping bag isn't going to hack it. I suddenly wonder if I'm really prepared for this trans-Alps adventure. If I can't handle it here... what will I do in Switzerland? I was told there's an RV campground up ahead. I figure I could go up there and see what my options are. Then I follow a road which I assume will take me up the gorge, when it takes a turn in the wrong direction, I assume it's just a switchback, and I opt for a shortcut straight up the mountainside. I climb higher... higher... higher... but the road doesn't reappear. I gaze back down into the valley far, far below, dreading the inevitable: I'm going to just have to turn around and go back down again. There are some ...

"Why does president Obama support the Muslim Brotherhood? They are attacking Christians and trying to destroy us!" It's interesting that just a few days ago I had a conversation with a Turk who ran a doner shop in Firenze and he said the exact opposite: "Why ...

Day 274 1 hr, 1 km With the steep, wooded mountainside to my left and a valley that is quickly narrowing to my right it's only a few hundred meters and I'm in the next town, Messe. I know that the uphill climb is getting close, including my big goal: to cross the Splugenpass from Italy to Switzerland on foot. I know it was just planted here for the warm months, but seeing a banana tree in someone's yard just feels really unappropriate. C'mon folks, this is the ...
