... went flying and I was laying on my back on the cement. Conor watched the whole situation unravel from about 20 yards back, so he came running to help immediately. Thankfully I made it out of my tumble with nothing but a bruised elbow and ego. Once standing, I realized my entire backside was covered in the same slime that I had slipped in. This was a very quick visit between Lucca and Manarola, because you just have to. We trekked with our backpacks, fought the crowds to find this wonder. We were surrounded by cathedrals and then in the middle a massive leaning tower. I can't imagine how it is still standing! It all seemed so fake we had to keep reminding ourselves we were in ...

For our last day in Florence, we went to the Uffizi gallery. They have seveval Botticelli pieces, including the birth of Venus. We then took the hour train ride to Pisa and saw the leaning tower of Pisa. From 1990-2011 this tower was being renforced and surrounded by outside support. It was reopened and the public is now allowed to enter inside. It really is amazing how much this tower leans and we had quite a lot of fun taking ...
