... promenade and it was 6.30 pm but still very hot. We weren't impressed with this town. Very commercialised with lots of ugly accommodation for the tourists and dirty streets in just behind the sea. We enjoyed our bike ride with the cooler ocean breeze and headed back to make dinner at around 8pm. Now I know why they have dinner so late. Its too hot to eat any sooner. ... on the road (i.e. not just those in our group), and as the morning wore on both traffic and temperature heated up.

The terrain was ideal for me - scenic, challenging (ups) and fun (downs) - and I stopped many times for photos. Each time I did, though, the pent up muscle heat and lack of effective wind due to my being stationary resulted in huge waves of sweat pouring off me. And ...

    DAY 12/June 25: Argeles-sur-Mer to Girona

    This entry by Tom.

Another hot and sunny day, hotter and sunnier than the rest, greeted us for our ride back into Spain, for good this time. Many of us, including me, were wearing our snazzy blue and white Pyrenees jerseys that we picked up for half price in Bagneres-de-Bigorre. Also, many of us but not including me left early in order to arrive early and avoid riding in the peak afternoon heat as much as possible. I ...
