The walk to Turku castle was quite long, but not unpleasant as we followed the river and watched rowing teams and beer ferries on the way. The castle in Turku holds a lot of history, as Turku was originally the capital of Finland, but after a great fire, it was relocated to Helsinki. The cathedral and castle are two of the few remaining buildings from an otherwise destroyed town.

So once we arrived in Helsingor, because of all the rain we were encountering, we woozed out and stayed in the local Youth Hostel, which used to be a Count’s Summer House – so on the other side of the lawn was beach and water!
