    ... cathedral date back to Norman times although both have been rebuilt. The
    cathedral has a beautifully painted ceiling. It would appear the town was
    attacked on numerous occasions by Turkish pirates who liked to massacre the
    townspeople. Its narrow steep streets make it very picturesque.

    information and tomorrow we head to the Forestra de Umbra to do some walking.

    ... go off the main road and in the distance on the mountain one gets the first view of San Giovanni. The lights on the summit (about 600 meters up) shine brightly in welcome. We were dropped off at our hotel in time for a quick meal at the hotel restaurant then off to bed to await the morning and our new adventure for the day.
