... walking tour through the old part of the city. It was once again very warm (about 36 degrees) and the route was cobbled and hilly so at least we worked off our lunchtime excesses! But the sights were fabulous. We saw a couple of churches – but at one time there were 365 churches in Ohrid – one for every day of the year! ... With no reservations, we showed up and splurged for a penthouse suite overlooking the lake. Perfect with big windows, lake breezes and vistas of snowcapped mountains. We were celebrating Darlene's birthday here, too.

Lake Ohrid is the confluence of three countries: Macedonia, Greece and Albania. A grand lake in the middle of three countries.

... but I could tell that they were trying their best to make my stay as best it could be. I got a 4 person dorm room on the second floor of a really old Ottoman style house. In my room the only other occupant was a young guy from Germany. He was taking a journey from Germany to Turkey and onward to Iran, Pakistan and India. After settling in, I went to have dinner and smoke some sheeshah with the German guy. We hung out and talked during the evening and had a nice time.

... the town, only asking for directions once from a very willing man standing on the side of the street. When we arrived at the Greece border, Macedonia just waved us through not caring about anything (wish they were like that on entry) Greece asked for passports, we got a stamp and the wave of approval to enter Greece, yippee.

We rode on for a little while then stopped in a small town to get some lunch, kebabs!

Spent most of the morning travelling through Albania. Rather than take the motorway we went over the mountains and thank goodness we have a good driver.
