Dubrovnik to Ohrid

... in the defense of Dubrovnik & it was said that whoever held the fort, held the town. In spite of being a UNESCO protected site the town was under attack from December 1991- July 1992. An exhibition inside the fort details the war. More walking through the old city & more new discoveries. At the Old Port, we came across a very cool band of double bass, guitar, violin & saxophone. The crowd loved ...

Constantinople Rendezvous

... I didnt actually do. After that I headed thru immigration and hopped back in the bus. Armenia is mostly a country of mountains and valleys and winding roads. It was a really nice drive for four hours. Its a small country as well and we were able to cover a good amount of it within those four hours. We arrived at the capital city of Yerevan at around 10pm or so. I had found where my hostel was as usual on my gps and I showed it on the map to the taxi driver. The only problem was ...

... his smile with front teeth missing. He had tons to tell us and he thoroughly seemed to enjoy being able to pass on all his knowledge about the lake and the area's history. Someone asked about the snow on the mountains and he said it was gone by August and never really got much worse than what we saw. Since the mountains had oaks, they wouldn't be able to survive in a lot of snow. Zoran gave us an itinerary but I think I forgot it because I didn't ...

Making new friends

... nice one. We had texted Richard (the British guy we met the day before) and he invited us to meet up with him and his family for dinner. As we hadn't had lunch we were starving so we pretty much ran to meet up with Richard, his wife Francis, their girls Alice and Rhona plus their local friends Drushka, his wife Natasha and their young kids. The restaurant was quite nice and right by the lake. We chatted and swapped stories whilst enjoying some good (and super cheap) food.
