... 1998 it has erupted at least once a year. The worst event in this time left the locals wearing face masks for 3 months, using umbrella's when outside to protect them from the ash, and clearing ash everyday from houses and roads. ... so there are some pretty amazing views. Also found in the park are a more rundown roman amphitheatre, a giant Greek sacrificial altar, and tall grotto known as the Ear of Dionysius, which because of its shape, can amplify the smallest sound to the loudest cry. The acoustics are incredible, which we experienced firsthand with the help of someone else's guide. It was pretty intense.

... delayed post-travel shower and nap, to refresh and get our bodies and minds in sync with our location.At Christian's suggestion, we spend the afternoon just wandering the centro storico of Catania, taking in some sights, but mostly just enjoying the fact that we had finally ARRIVED at a destination.

... 4 sacrifice n greek teatro. A long road with caves/rooms in the side cliff for storing bodies.
Lots of other natural displays but ended with the supposed tomb of archimedes.
Back to our little haven of Ortigia 4 siesta n drinks.
Stroll around the water front n down a few alleys to a little restaurant.

... the actually beach and it was too hot and I didn't have my bathers! Instead i went back home and watched and movie and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. I skyped Adrian for over an hour but then he had to go to bed because he has work tomorrow. I also talked to Liz and Georgia for a bit which was really nice!
