... did make it to the San Marco Basilica. The church has 5 domes which is extremely unusual for any church, but they were all decorated in gold mosaics.
I happened to be in Venice during their university graduation, so I got to witness some of their celebratory traditions which involved funny costumes for the graduates and a lot of singing in the streets. Entertaining to say the least, but very crowded.

... for our long awaited holiday so we decided to sit by a nice restaurant by Rialto bridge and have a nice dinner. Wrong choice. We didn't know that most restaurants in Venice charges cover charge and 12% service charge in top of the price of the food. We had a pasta, pizza, beer and a lime soda and it cost us 40 €. I almost puked. Food is ok, not great and it's definitely not worth the amount we paid.

All around Venice, the mineral water 1.5L cost 3 ...

... fell asleep for quite a while and so did Danny. By the time we got up the light was going quickly so we thought it would be too rushed to go on a gondola then. A few minutes from our hotel we found a modern little restaurant that had a 4.5 star rating on trip advisor. We thought it would be safe to give it a go. Turns out the food was amazing. We finished off our exploring with the traditional gondola ride through the canals and and an Italian dinner. Pasta and Chianti naturally.
Lots of wonderful moments experienced and memories created.

... better than I even imagined. It was a little too cold to ride a gondola, but we've taken the public transportation boats to get everywhere.

We had a bumpy start at the airport. Since we were flying on a budget airline, our backpacks were too big to carry-on and we had to check them.
