Lower Sigua Falls Redemption Hike

... up and I climbed down maybe a 15 foot waterfall CAREFULLY to reach the top of Lower Sigua. Theres no backing down now! No way I was going back up that muddy hill and sawgrass and then down the rope cliff all over again. Only one way down. Time to man up! So looking down.. which is a little necessary to see where your jumping and what to clear did NOT help my confidence one bit! But I took the plunge and it was very worth it ...

Advanced Open Water Scuba course

... old Japanese WWII gun still preserved in the side of a cliff. The beach is famous for firecoral (not cool!), manta rays, sea turtles and the occasional whitetip reef shark. I saw plenty of firecoral! but didnt get the opportunity to see any of the above. Apparently 2 of the guys saw a reef shark swimming away from us but unfortunately I missed that one. I saw a lot of cool nocturnal fish that only come out at night and hide ...

Theres always enough time!

... is the spot on Guam where Ferdinand Magellan landed in the 1500s and later settle in the spanish. I got some pictures I thought that were pretty humorous around the bay..
So not much to tell about the early morning haha we picked up at least a trash bag each along with several other guys in our squadron and patrolled a strip about 3 miles long. The locals were very appreciative and were giving out drinks (water) and tshirts for those who ...

Tallest Mountain in the world

... to top. Its not the Highest (everest), but with the base of the mountain at 36000 feet below sea level (almost 7 miles.. stand corrected) and the summit being the highest point of Guam, it takes the cake.

After doing a little bit of research (come to find out not enough) and packing, my co weather warrior and I set out to conquer LamLam. Being that it was hot as hades outside and humid from a week of rain I decided to wear some skimpy air ...

Marbo Caves

So for some reason I still have not figured out to this day, on a saturday night, in the middle of a tropical storm... We decided caving would be an awesome idea. Talk about some blair witch project! Stocked up on underwater flashlights, snorkel gear and toilet paper and headed out to Marbo. The caves have underwater lakes that get so deep at points ...

Is diving supposed to be fun ???

... works! So: he has to HOLD his regulator in his mouth, equalize WITHOUT pinching his nose (I just cannot do that), put stones in his pocket (AND in mine) and inflate his BCD by blowing air into it with his mouth. Ever tried that at 30 meter? Brave man: I would have aborted the dive. I see him struggling and in the mean time: I cannot stay down! With an extra weight! When I see Hubby collecting stones too, I know: the guy ...

R & R in Guam

... will send over the technician. When he has not arrived yet after an hour, we decide to leave: it is getting hot in here! And he arrives. Looks at it for a minute and decides that the motor is broken. What to do but the move to another room? Dr T goes down stairs. We are only booked for 3 nights. He asks for a better deal on the room and the car if we extend. The receptionist says he will talk to his manager. On which Tony nicely answers ...

The Chamorran meal fit for a king

... to find room for just one more bite, and it supports me in this quest. I can walk out of restaurants without staggering, I'm not lying prostrate in the back of a car (anymore), and aside from a few throat gurgles, I'm blessedly free of heartburn and other G.I. flare-ups. I wasn't so cruel as to force dessert after my Chamorran feast, despite the ice cream crepes, chocolate spoon cake and Kahlua tiramisu, but when I saw the Cold Stone Creamery an ...

Our night out at Fish Eye

Our new friends suggested a night out and a dinner show. We met Margaret, Naomi, Theresa, Cheryl & George at the Fish Eye Marine Park and Polynesian Style Dinner Show. The Marine Park has an underwater observatory, so we were able to see divers feeding fish. The Dinner Show includes a seafood buffet-it was one of the best meals we've had so far. The buffet selection included sashimi & sushi, noodles & rice, crab ...

Guam: Hawaii for Beginners

... which was a 3 minute drive or 12 minute walk (as I discovered on the way back to Hilton). It was a long night, needless to say. Reviewing that phrase, why should I or anyone else ever write or say "needless to say?" If it's needless to say, isn't that, too, in fact needless to say? Isn't this? Sorry, I have an English major and took a philosophy class- what could be more annoying? :) Oops, on 28 Nov (Fri), I woke up late and missed my MWR tour of the waterfalls of Guam ...
