Historical Traveler Reviews Pakasai Resort Krabi
Rooms lovely, service and location average, but not good value for money
The rooms at this resort at lovely: set among what feels like a tropical rainforest the resort is off the street and quite quiet. The downside is of course that it is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. For the money, next time I would stay at the Golden Beach resort which is better situated (right on the beach) and better value.
Fantastic Place
The Pakasai is at one end of the resort, literally 2 minutes from numerous restaurants and bars and approx. 5 minutes walk from the beach.
When we arrived we received a free upgrade to a Suite, which, despite 129 steps to reach it was absolutely superb. A large clean room with an equally good sized bathroom. We also had great views from the large balcony.
The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and really can not do enough to help.
Food in the resport is generally good, but the hotel provided some of the best. Don't miss the BBQ night or the Thai Buffet.
Breakfast offers a wide choice and is plentiful.
The pool area is pleasant and safe for kids. We never had a problem finding a sun bed, whatever time we turned up.
Overall we were very pleased with the Pakasai and would certainly return.
Loved the spa in our room
We had the top room in the resort. With our own spa overlooking the sea.It was the best room in the resort but it was also the highest on the mountainside. We had 168 steps to climb to get to it,we got lost trying to find our room each time we went out. Not for the unfit (or intoxicated).
Fantastic resort
Fantastic location, fantastic resort.. I guess no words could explain the beauty of this place and the resort. Initially i was let down for the first 2 ngiht by Railay Bay and Spa resort... paid much more than Pakasai for a resort that was not even comparable. But overall staying in Railay was nice, lots and lots of european..l When i say lots means virtually everywhere you go, you will see them, Makes me feel like i am in a europe country, hehehe.
Weather was good, shopping was marvellous, peopl there are very very nice. I would definately go back there again cos i miss the food!!!
Had a Great Time!
The Pakasai Resort Hotel in Ao Nang, Krabi is a gem. It is nestled in a hillside only a five minute walk from Ao Nang beach, and we found the service, the rooms and the food to be excellent. The grounds were extremely well maintained with an abundance of vegetation, especially exotic flowers. The rooftop pool was very clean, tranquil and refreshing. But most of all, we were extremely impressed with the staff. Without exception they were pleasant, helpful and courteous. I strongly recommend Pakasai Resort -- it is great value for money.
Mediocre. Try Elsewhere.
I stayed at the Pakasai Resort for three nights during August 2005. It is not a bad place, but I was disappointed nonetheless. Good points: well located within easy walking distance (maybe 5-7 minutes) of the main Ao Aung tourist area and beach. The outside physical facilities, e.g., grounds, pool, general appearance, are quite nice. The staff is friendly. Negative points: pre-arranged pick-up at airport didn't arrive and no explanation given at check-in. Room and balcony, although functional and large, was bare of decoration and can best be described as stark. Buffet breakfast was rudimentary and dirty plates were not cleared away timely. I had to climb 108 steps to reach my room. Light outside my room was out, creating a dangerous condition at night, and it took two requests over two days to get it repaired. My request for an extra towel to take on a boat trip was denied: "One person one towel," I was told by the front desk. Yet, the next day, I did obtain an extra towel from the pool personnel. Still, a hassle and in the meantime, I bought a towel in town. No one met me at the entrance to the hotel; I wandered around with my bags looking for the lobby. Bottom line: if this is a four star resort, it is the dimmest four stars in the universe. I felt that I overpaid for what I received. There are quite a number of resorts nearby. Next time I'll try one of them.
Very impressive
My friend and I had a really pleasant time at Pakasai, thanks to the cozy, leafy surrounding and wonderful staffs.
We were very happy to get a free upgrade to the deluxe room. The room is huge, about 6 x 10 meters. The bathroom is nice. There're both the shower section and the bath (for self-spa) in the bathroom. All facilities are impressive.
The photos in the website look more beautiful than the real setting. From the room windows, we could saw only trees - Krabi geographical landscape is hilly, and Pakasai was constructed uphill. The seamless pool is good, but doesn't offer a great view. The best panoramic view of the Andaman Ocean is from the spa.
The hotel provides complimentary herbal drinks and tropical fruits every day from 3 - 5 pm. The staffs were so nice, so friendly, and so professional. The buffet breakfast offers many choices of American, European, and Asian dishes.
Pakasai is 200 meters away from Ao Nang beach - yep, no private, attached beach but it wasn't a problem. Although Ao Nang was one of the areas struck by tsunami (on Dec 26). But Pakasai wasn't affected because it's located a little bit uphill. I've sent an email to the staffs, and they said that now Ao Nang beach is already just as beautiful as it once was.
Great little hotel
Great little hotel/resort on the hillside on the road out of Ao Nang, about 500m from the seafront. Easy access to shops and restaurants.
Timber rooms and suites are situated in blocks on a steep hill at the back of the main building, which houses lobby and restaurant.
The hillside grounds have been lushly planted with tropical vegetation to give the appearance of a resort within a jungle, it's very impressive, well shaded and abundant with birdlife and artificial streams. The roofs have recycling sprinkler systems to spray mist over the tropical foliage.
Gives great privacy to the large balconies in the suites as you can't see much through the trees!
Definitely not recommended for less able people, access is by steep pathways and timber steps, well lit at night.
Hotel very clean, very relaxed and friendly with great service. Free broadband internet access in lobby with daily papers and library.
Infinity pool on lobby roof is quite shallow but superb. Water is recycled from the pool shower to drip down over the vegetation below and into a small natural pool outside the restaurant, great idea.
Food was fine, breakfasts not so great (possibly due to tsunami effect and low occupancy). We were a bit exasperated at times at breakfast, no real system in place and you had to wait while they cooked eggs, so you'd go for the toast and somebody had swiped your eggs...or vice versa. Ended up having a cold breakfast a few times, but this was minor.
Pool bar for food, drink and towels (which you can take out to the beach).
Well recommended for a stay of a week or so.
Great deals at present due to mass panic cancellations by tour operators, which is very sad and unreasonable for this unaffected area.
Pakasai Hotel - Tranquility among the Trees
Just come back from Krabi and this hotel is a gem with individual 3 storey blocks of rooms set into the hillside amongst mature trees. These soround the main building where the restaurant, lounge and roof top pool are. The rooms are magnificently spacious with full airconditioning. The breakfast is cooked to order and the staff are willing and eager to please.
The hotel stands at the edge of Ao Nang and while you can walk into the centre it avoids the worst of the tourist tack on the beach strip. Boats should be hired to nearby secluded beaches.
At present the resort is not busy but that will crank up again so if you can get away now the hotel has a special offer which is a steal.
Suggest you stay no longer that 7 days and mix it in with Bangkok or Chang Mia
Loved Pakasai
My family stayed 10 days last Christmas then 10 in Kho Lanta...We loved the resort and the town. Having been to Phuket in the past we prefered Ao Nang, Short walk to long tails and island tours. Short walk to town and resturants.
This hotel was formerly known as: Pakasai Resort Krabi
